Google entering digital distribution realm

At its annual developer conference, Google has announced its entrance into the digital distribution realm with its Chrome Web Store.

Set to open later this year, the store features web applications like LinkedIn, Tweetdeck and Sports Illustrated, among other non-gaming apps.

And while they didn't go into detail on the games library, a screenshot of the store shows several games, including Scrabble, Plants vs Zombies and FIFA World Cup 2010.

The apps will run in any modern web browser, but they are meant for Google's Chrome web browser and Chrome operating system, the latter of which will also see release later this year.
