Grand Theft Auto V Returns to San Andreas

Rockstar Games debuted the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V today, ending years of speculation about the hotly anticipated sequel.

The narrator details why he moved to his new home of Los Santos: To leave his life of crime and start a family. He implies that his best-laid plans go awry in typical GTA fashion, trailing off with a thoughtful, “You know how it is.”

Before things get too wistful, we’re treated to a montage of standard GTA fare: Robberies, prostitution, and police chase.

GTA V marks the franchise’s return to San Andreas, and the trailer shows numerous shots of Los Santos and outlying areas. Although there’s no official word on whether GTA V will be as open as San Andreas, scenes of open country are shown, including a wind farm and what appears to be Mt. Chiliad.

"Grand Theft Auto V is another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. "We are incredibly excited to share our new vision with our fans."

Rockstar Games has not confirmed a launch date, but Grand Theft Auto V will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
