Metroid Prime Trilogy Blasts onto Wii

News by Kris  on  May 25, 2009

November 17, 2002: Metroid Prime is released onto the Gamecube as the first 3-D Metroid title and quickly becomes a hit. November 15, 2004: The sequel is released titled Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and is as big of a hit as the first. August 27, 2007: The first Metroid game for the new Nintendo Wii is released and quickly becomes a favorite and must have for Wii owners; Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Seeing the success of these three games, Nintendo decides to take advantage of a great opportunity. When announing their New Play Control line of games, games originally released for the GameCube being remade for the Wii, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 were amoung the list of remakes. The idea makes sense. Why would you not want to turn two of your best games into an updated version with motion sensing controls, when the one version with the controls is being praised so highly because of them? This is what Nintendo probably asked themselves because we can now expect Prime and Prime 2 to have Wii counterparts. But that isn't all.

Set to release on the 24 of August this year, the Metroid Prime Trilogy will be coming to Wii in a convenient bundle. The bundle will be priced at $49.99, the price of an average Wii game. So if you think about it, you will be getting three games for the price of one. We can look forward to seeing more of this, hopefully at E3 next month. Wii owners should definitely keep an eye out for this great deal.
