Nintendo is back in the news as rumors about the company's planned Direct presentation grow. For Switch owners and people who are planning to get the Switch 2, this could be one of the most important events of the year. For the most part, people have been talking about Metroid Prime 4.

There are rumors that Metroid Prime 4 will get its own Direct, separate from the main show. Nintendo spent a lot of money and worked on the game for years, so many people expect the company to give Samus Aran's long-awaited return the attention it deserves.

Masahiro Sakurai is known for breaking down Smash Bros. in great detail. While this talk won't be as long as those for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, it should be focused and last 15 to 20 minutes. People are still guessing about the multiplayer, but most people think it will be a mostly single-player game with new mechanics that build on Samus's current skills.

With a strong report of a holiday release window, Metroid Prime 4 could be Nintendo's big farewell to the Switch One while also coming out at the same time as a better Switch 2 version. There's also talk that Metroid Prime 2 and 3 will be remastered and released before Prime 4 comes out.

If Nintendo does what it did with Pikmin 1 & 2 HD and Prime 1 Remastered, fans could see digital versions drop in the eShop without warning, with hard copies coming out a few weeks later. These remasters might not improve the graphics as much as Prime 1 Remastered, but adding widescreen support and more up-to-date features would make the experience much better.

It looks like Nintendo's Christmas season of 2025 will be very busy. Kirby Air Riders is set to be the main release for the Switch 2 in November. This means that Metroid Prime 4 or even Pokémon Legends Z-A could be the main release for the Switch One over the holidays. Some people think that a new Legend of Zelda project might sneak into the schedule, but fans are wary of getting their hopes up too quickly.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is about to get a firm release date, and both Kirby Air Riders and Pokémon Legends Z-A will be getting updates in the form of trailers. Finally, fans of third-party games have reason to be happy. FromSoftware's Elden Ring is likely to show up with a Switch release date and maybe even new information on Dusk Bloods, her follow-up project.

If Nintendo's own games aren't enough for you, the Direct is said to have a big third-party push for Switch 2. Rare has given the system a lot of hints about Sea of Thieves, and games like Diablo, Call of Duty, and Microsoft Flight Simulator are being talked about as possible additions.

Many of the big-name games that were announced for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S earlier this summer are now expected to finally come to Switch 2. This is a big change for Nintendo's next-generation console. Even though the release of dev kits is still behind other platforms, it looks like third-party confirmations will be easy to get.

The upcoming Direct is very important because it's the first full-scale show for Switch 2 since the system came out. At the first reveal event, most of the attention was on the hardware. This show, on the other hand, will focus on the games that will make up the system's library in the future.

This Nintendo Direct could be one of the most exciting in recent memory for long-time fans, with remasters that bring back memories, big first-party projects, and more third-party support on the way.

There have been reports that the show will air on Friday, so people are already very excited. One thing is for sure: Nintendo is ready to make noise, whether Metroid Prime 4 steals the show, Zelda shows up out of the blue, or Microsoft makes a huge announcement.
