Nintendo Slams Apple
News by Craig Bryan on Apr 04, 2009
The brand new Nintendo DSi launched in the UK today and is selling out as quickly as its being put on shelves. It’s not a great surprise though, when you consider the trends set by their hardware releases in the past.
The DSi is set to become a direct competitor to the ever-popular Apple iPhone and Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president, has already began the war-games. He was very adamant in the fact that the handheld’s own download store will not have “thousands upon thousands” of games, like the Apple Store, but instead wants “high-class content done by knowledgeable developers in creating fantastic experiences for the consumer — instead of the YouTube approach of everything under the sun that is difficult for the consumer to navigate through."
This isn’t the first time Reggie has hit out at competitors; in fact he has been quoted many times in his attempt to directly belittle rival hardware devices, and this has earned him quite a mixed reputation throughout the gaming community.
I guess the software will speak for itself though, and with the DSi costing a lot less than an iPhone, and boasting more features; Apples pocket-rocket may have finally met its match. You can pick up yours in the UK today for around £150.
