Stars Wars Genesis is shaping up to be an increasingly ambitious project, with version 10.0 on the horizon that could take the Starfield mod to a whole new level. The developer also plans to implement an evolving galaxy, where major events will have lasting effects on planets, missions, and locations as players move through the story.
The update also looks to replace much of the inherited content from Starfield, making the experience feel more like a fully-fledged Star Wars RPG. Meanwhile, the latest update has already done major improvements to bounty hunting, lightsaber combat, criminal factions, and settlement defense.

One of the biggest additions to version 10.0 is a dynamic timeline, which takes players through different ages of Star Wars history.
Your adventure starts a couple years before the original Star Wars movie with major story events slowly moving the timeline into the Galactic Civil War. Instead of exploring a galaxy where everything stays the same, you will see locations and missions change as the conflict progresses. Entire planets could even be permanently changed due to events from the movies.
For instance, one planet in Rogue One is supposed to go from a beautiful tropical environment to a devastated landscape after the events of the film. Also, after the Death Star blows up Alderaan, it should be removed from the galaxy map. These changes would give the open-world experience a greater sense of progression, making the galaxy feel like a living place where history is still being made, rather than a static collection of places.
Version 10.0 also is intended to give Genesis more the feel of a finished game than a huge work in progress. The developer wants to finish the main story and add more faction stories and more missions, as well as replace most of the remaining Starfield objects and locations. It’s a massive job, as it needs to change thousands of things in an already huge open world.
These are still lofty goals, but the newest update has already brought with it a handful of big gameplay improvements. Bounty hunting is one of its biggest new features, bringing in familiar characters like Boba Fett and Bossk, as well as a redesigned system for joining the bounty hunter organization. Players can travel to different locations and use new equipment to locate targets rather than just signing a contract and following a marker. The update also introduces over 200 Star Wars-themed bounty types, giving players more choice of criminals to hunt down across the galaxy.
Completing these contracts rewards you with special tokens that can be redeemed for exclusive equipment, weapons, and upgrades.
This is another opportunity to advance without concentrating solely on the main plot, and you get to spend hours hopping from planet to planet looking for dangerous targets. They also give you many ways to explore the Star Wars universe. If you want to be a bounty hunter, work with criminal organizations, explore faraway worlds, and get involved in the conflict between the Empire and the Rebellion.
The update brings new story missions that expand the criminal underworld with a turf war between two powerful criminal organizations. Players can choose to join one faction or the other, while completing missions related to the ongoing rivalry. The developer has also redesigned the galaxy map, moving the location of star systems and improving their connections to one another to better reflect the Star Wars universe.

Lightsaber combat has been improved with smoother third-person movement, better animations, improved blocking, and new heavy attacks. While these changes don’t create an entire new combat system, they should help make lightsaber fights feel more reactive and rewarding. Starfield wasn’t designed for this close-quarters combat, so it takes a lot of work to adapt its mechanics. With Genesis, we’re not only expanding the library of Star Wars content, but we’re also building upon our foundations with improvements to existing gameplay systems.
Introducing enemy raids has also made managing settlements more interesting. You are able to set up bases across the galaxy. Hostile forces can attack them. If you don't defend them, you lose valuable resources. If they steal your supplies, you can track them down and try to get your stuff back. This gives settlements a more practical purpose and forces you to defend your investments rather than just building a base and leaving it alone.
The Empire also has a harsher reaction to openly carrying lightsabers in certain Imperial-controlled areas.
If you're caught with one, you'll be hit with a massive bounty and have to run, fight your way out, or give up. This system adds more consequence to carrying a lightsaber, especially in a galaxy where the Empire is actively hunting Jedi. Powerful enemies, such as Imperial Inquisitors, can hunt players between locations, forcing you to fight, flee to another planet, or survive until you’re better prepared.
Star Wars Genesis is not just a simple Starfield conversion and has a growing timeline planned for version 10.0 with major gameplay improvements already on the way. The upcoming changes could make the galaxy feel more responsive to the story, while the latest update gives players more reasons to explore, hunt bounties, defend settlements, and navigate the criminal underworld.
If the developer’s plans come to fruition, Genesis could become a much more expansive Star Wars RPG experience built around Bethesda’s open-world design. The evolving galaxy, expanded faction storylines, and deeper gameplay systems could give players more freedom to shape their adventures across the Star Wars universe.
