Vanquish headed for PS3/360 winter 2010

PlatinumGames released a teaser trailer of the game back in January. The teaser footage more or less contained CG effects and live-action footage in a sci-fi, futuristic backdrop in what seems to be set in the United States. It also showed an unknown man clad in space armor engaging in an intense battle with large robots. While the first teaser showed scarce information about the game, Sega and PlatinumGames gave us bits of information about their fourth upcoming title.
Basically, Vanquish is a sci-fi third-person shooter mixed with action gameplay elements. Players will follow a one-man army named Sam as he fights off giant robots in a futuristic America setting. The United States and Russia fight for survival, as an energy shortage crisis puts the whole world in jeopardy. This conflict apparently started when an orbital attack was executed against the United States.
Vanquish also marks the fourth—and last game PlatinumGames will make in conjunction with Sega, a deal they made back in May 2008. The other three games are Bayonetta, the stylish, ultra-violent MadWorld, and Infinite Space, which will be released on the Nintendo DS on March 16. Shinji Mikami, who directed Bayonetta, said the goal of the Vanquish development team is to “inject the extreme pace of an action game into a shooter." The game will be out for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, with a winter 2010 release window.
