Wolfire's Lugaru Kills Parasite

Theft is pretty awful and every time someone doesn’t get away with it, we learn that crime does not pay. In particular with video games, everyone is always happy when some lesser conscious people get the boot when they’ve been bad.
Recently Wolfire Games, the nice people that bring you the Humble Indie Bundle, had seen one of their games Lugaru HD ripped off and put on the Mac App Store. The counterfeit used their generously given source code and then plainly duped it, to pass it off as genuine. It took quite some time to get Apple’s attention on the matter, but luckily the exposure power of the internet stepped in.
Well, the struggle is finally over now, as the fraudulent people saw their game taken away, although there’s still no word about what will happen to wronged customers. But here’s where it just gets awesome: Wolfire Games generously offered to donate an authentic release and additional Steam key to anyone that got played into buying the false product. On their blog, Jeffrey Rosen posted: “You can forward your receipt to [email protected] and we will give you an authentic version of Lugaru HD, as well as a bonus Steam key for your trouble.”
Personally, I think these guys are some of the nicest people in the game universe. You see, the meager income indie developers make from games separates them from working at a fast-food chain and providing you with new games to play. When you take away that money and they still go out their way to be on your good side, that’s when you know you’ve got some good people on your hands. We wish them all the best.
