In Dave the Diver, you will see seahorses very quickly when you start diving in the Blue Hole. At first, you can't do anything with them, which can be hard to understand. These creatures aren't just there to look nice; they belong to a different group of seahorse species that can be caught.

You can only catch them after you move far enough in the game to unlock the right tool. This guide uses a clear, step-by-step method to show you how to get the needed thing and catch seahorses.

Requirement to Catch Seahorses

To catch Seahorses, you must use the Bug Net. This item is different from other tools like the Net Gun or standard weapons. You cannot purchase the Bug Net from Duff, and it does not appear in weapon caches while diving in the Blue Hole. The only way to unlock it is by completing a specific request given by Maki.

How to Get the Bug Net

You receive the Bug Net by completing Maki’s Request during Chapter 2. Maki will visit your sushi bar and ask you to prepare Kombu and White Trevally Ochazuke. To complete this request, you need White Trevally, Soy Sauce, and Kelp.

If you do not already have Soy Sauce and Kelp, you can find both in the Shallows area. Kelp appears as a free-standing item, while Soy Sauce is obtained by breaking red pots. White Trevally is found deeper, between 50 meters and 130 meters, just before reaching the Depths. This fish has a yellow eye and a yellow stripe running along its body, making it easier to identify.

Once you collect all the ingredients, cook the requested dish in your sushi bar. After completing the request, Maki will reward you with the Bug Net. This tool allows you to catch small creatures that cannot be reached using the harpoon, including Seahorses and Clione.

How to Catch Seahorses

After obtaining the Bug Net, you can start catching Seahorses during your dives. To do this, swim directly up to a Seahorse until you are very close. When you are in range, a button prompt will appear on the screen. Press the button to catch it.

Each Seahorse you catch automatically has a three-star rating and can be used like other ingredients in the game. You need to position yourself almost on top of the Seahorse, so do not worry if the prompt does not appear immediately. Adjust your position slightly until the interaction becomes available.
