During the early part of Dave the Diver, you won’t encounter Tuna in the Blue Hole immediately, and you might be wondering how to start catching them. Tuna are introduced to you once a specific Tuna Event occurs in the game. This guide will walk you through the process of finding and capturing Tuna, so you can use them in your Fish Farm and supply your Sushi Bar.

When and Where to Find Tuna

Tuna travel quickly in groups around the Blue Hole Shallows. You will first encounter them during a Tuna Event, which can happen at various points in the game. For reference, the event appeared during Chapter 3 in our experience. Once the event starts, you will be guided through a short tutorial on how to catch Tuna.

Using the Steel Sensor Trap

To catch Tuna, Cobra provides you with a Steel Sensor Trap. This item floats in the water and releases a net when a fish swims into it, making it the most reliable way to capture Tuna. You can obtain a Steel Sensor Trap by purchasing it from Cobra’s Shop before a dive or by finding it in the Blue Hole.

Other Catching Methods

Catching Tuna by hand or with other tools is more difficult because they swim fast and can cause damage if you get in their path. You can technically kill a Tuna to catch it, but you will need patience since they often swim in groups of four or five. Non-lethal tools, like the Net Gun, do not work on Tuna.

Another option is the Hush Dart, which can put Tuna to sleep. To succeed with this method, you must use the Modified Hush Dart and land two shots consecutively.

Overall, your best approach is to use the Steel Sensor Trap. You only need to catch a few Tuna of each species. Once caught, you can breed them in the Fish Farm and continue supplying your Sushi Bar with Tuna.
