Doom: The Dark Ages Guide | How To Reach The Dragon's Den

To reach the Dragon's Den in Doom: The Dark Ages, you first arrive in an area where you'll spot a red button puzzle and a platform to jump on. However, if you step off the platform, it deactivates.

Solving the Entry Puzzle

What you need to do here is perform a shield jump throw. Throw your shield at the switch, jump, and land on the next section. After that, hold down your shield and push it forward to activate and hold the mechanism in place. This allows you to jump up and continue.

Entering the Burning Zone

As you progress, you'll enter a burning area. This section might also contain a secret skin for you to unlock if you're exploring thoroughly. Clear out the enemies as you move through the zone.

Keep your eyes open as you explore—you might see something tucked away that appears to be accessible only with a tricky jump. Even if you can't reach it right now, continue heading through the level.

Use your shield jump to cross a bridge and begin engaging demons. You need to clear all of them before the next area unlocks. Be ready for some fast-paced combat.

Once cleared, you'll face a few more enemies, including a larger target, who, when defeated, grants you a maximum armor increase. After this, you can drop down further to continue your path.

Entering the Town Plaza

Once you reach the town plaza, prepare for another wave of enemies, many of whom carry plasma shields. For this section, it's recommended you use your accelerator rifle, which proves highly effective.

Keep moving forward, pushing through resistance until you begin to see dragons nearby. You've now reached the outskirts of the Dragon's Aary.

Facing the Vagary Champion

Before reaching the actual Dragon's Den, you'll face off against a powerful mech-type enemy known as the Vagary Champion. He absorbs a lot of damage, so your strategy needs to focus on deflexes.

If you can consistently pull off deflex attacks, you'll find yourself dealing serious damage. Timing is key, and while it can be difficult to land them, the area is filled with healing items to help keep you alive during the fight.

To deal greater damage, try to hit the champion from behind when he's knocked over. Eventually, you'll wear him down and defeat him.

Reaching the Dragon's Den

Defeating the Vagary Champion unlocks the next checkpoint and puts you just outside the Dragon's Den. You're now within the Sentinel Barracks area, standing at the gateway to one of the most intense parts of your journey.
