Early traversal of the vast desert in Dune Awakening can be significantly eased by acquiring a Sandbike well before crafting one.
This guide details the precise method for obtaining a free Sandbike in the opening area of the game, ensuring that players can cover large distances swiftly and safely from the outset.
Location of the Free Sandbike

The free Sandbike always spawns within the bounds of the starting area, Scavenger Camp. On the in‑game map, this camp is marked near the initial spawn point.
Within the camp's perimeter, the vehicle appears in one of two spots: either centrally among the ruined structures or, if absent there, tucked into the far-left corner beneath a makeshift awning. Multiple checks confirm that the Sandbike will consistently spawn at one of these locations.
Dealing with Hostile Scavengers
Occasionally, Scavengers patrol the vicinity of the Sandbike spawn point. These hostile NPCs must be eliminated before approaching the vehicle.
Engage and defeat all nearby Scavengers, then wait a moment to ensure no respawns occur. Once the area is clear, proceed to the Sandbike without fear of interruption.
Claiming the Sandbike

After clearing the camp of hostiles, approach the Sandbike until the interaction prompt appears. By holding the E key, the vehicle is claimed and added to the player's immediate control. From this moment, the Sandbike is usable without any crafting or additional requirements.
Refueling and Transport
Upon claiming the Sandbike, it can be ridden straight away. Fuel levels deplete over time, so locate nearby fuel sources—such as derelict pumps or lootable containers—to refill the tank.
Once refueled, the vehicle may be driven across the desert and left at any convenient location before dismounting.
Limitations and Crafting Requirements

The free Sandbike cannot be customized; component upgrades are locked. Additionally, the Vehicle Backup Tool cannot store this prebuilt model in inventory for later summoning.
To access customization options, part swapping, and repeatable summoning, players must craft their Sandbike blueprint.
Crafting requires gathering specific resources and unlocking the appropriate schematics through progression in Dune Awakening.
