The Swordmaster combat style in Dune Awakening represents one of the most rewarding paths for players seeking mastery in melee combat. Unlike other combat talents, becoming a Swordmaster takes hard work and a certain chain of quests that will test your ability to explore Arrakis's dangerous areas.

The first Swordmaster unlock is like a building block; it teaches you the basic sword skills that will determine how you fight. This guide will walk you through the exact steps needed to find the trainer and complete the necessary quest to unlock your basic Swordmaster abilities.

Finding the Basic Swordmaster Trainer

To begin unlocking the swordmaster skill tree, you first need to find the basic swordmaster trainer, Arno. From West Vermillion Gap, travel directly north until you reach Pentacle Station in Hagga Basin.

Be careful crossing the area called Jabal Ifritz, as it's known for quicksand, so make sure to avoid those spots to keep your journey smooth.

When you arrive at Pentacle Station, look for the main building. Arno is located just inside on the right side as you enter. He's the one who's going to give you your first quest to start your swordmaster journey.

Checking the Post Quest

Your first quest is going to be called "Checking the Post." This will send you on a bit of an adventure across the map. Your first destination is Devil Ice Cavern, found in the far northwestern corner of the map.

It's located right across from a slaver camp, so keep your guard up. Inside the cavern, explore until you find a crate you can interact with, and this is going to be your first clue.

Next, you'll head southwest to the Rea Palace in the Western Vermillion Gaps. Heads up, this is a PvP area, so you might run into other players. Enter the wreck from the west side, make your way to the second floor, cut it down, and look for a bracelet that lets you into the final room.

Within this room, you'll notice there's a crate that you need to interact with. It's very strange, off to the side. And within this room as well, there is going to be another loot crate that you can get some pretty solid loot from.

From there, you're going to make your way to Testing Station Number 76. You'll need to clear the entire facility, which is a pretty deep one. As you get to nearly the end of it, you'll notice this location where there is a computer that you need to interact with to get the final code message.

Once you retrieve the coded message, return to Arno at the Pentacle Station. Completing this quest unlocks the basic swordmaster tree, so you'll be ready to start developing your abilities.
