Elden Ring Nightreign Guide | How To Complete Recluse Remembrance Questline
This guide details everything you need to do in order to complete the Recluse Remembrance Questline.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Jun 07, 2025
In this guide, you will learn how to complete the Recluse Remembrance questline step by step. You will unlock chapters in your journal, collect key items from Night-tainted foes, interact with important NPCs, and defeat challenging bosses.
Follow each section carefully to progress through Chapters 2, 4, and 6 of the remembrance.
Getting a Memory Fragment to Unlock Chapter 2
Before you can begin Chapter 2 of the Recluse Remembrance, you must obtain a Memory Fragment. To do this, you need to either defeat a Night Lord or play enough expeditions with Recluse until you acquire enough Memory Fragments to unlock the appropriate chapter in your journal.
Once you have a Memory Fragment, open your journal and look for Chapter 2, Remembrance. If the option to begin it is available, you can immediately start the quest.
Begin Chapter 2, Remembrance
When you begin Chapter 2, Remembrance, you will encounter multiple dialogue segments. First, go to Iron Menial, located in the dining room area.
Speak to Iron Menial, and during the conversation, he will request that you bring him something made from Night. Specifically, he asks for a Night Shard, which you must obtain by vanquishing Night-tainted foes in Limveld.
Collecting a Night Shard
To find Night-tainted foes, embark on any expedition in Limveld—you do not need to defeat the Night Lord at the end of the run. While exploring, look for a red flag marker that indicates a Night-tainted enemy.
One of the more formidable Night-tainted enemies you may encounter is a powerful hippopotamus-like creature. It deals significant damage, so it is recommended to attempt this on a later in-game day or with multiplayer assistance. Defeat this Night-tainted foe to collect the Night Shard.
Returning to Iron Menial
After obtaining the Night Shard, end your expedition by either defeating the Night Lord or by allowing your character to die. Return to Roundtable Hold and speak to Iron Menial again. Show him the Night Shard and choose the dialogue options that indicate you have a favor to ask.
Continue selecting the first dialogue options available. Eventually, you will hand over the Night Shard to Iron Menial, who will take it for research. Once this dialogue concludes, end Chapter 2, Remembrance, to return to the journal table.
Receiving Reclus's Chalice
Upon completing Chapter 2 Remembrance, you will receive Reclus's Chalice as a new relic. If Chapter 4 Remembrance does not appear unlocked in your journal, you may need to collect additional Memory Fragments by defeating more Night Lords before Chapter 4 becomes available.
Begin Chapter 4, Remembrance
When Chapter 4 Remembrance is unlocked, begin it from your journal. First, you will notice a note on the expedition table in Roundtable Hold. Interact with this note and read its contents. Next, find Iron Menial, which is now located near the small jar bazaar area.
Speak to Iron Menial and request your Night Shard back. You may need to interact with him multiple times until the dialogue option appears, allowing you to retrieve the Night Shard. Once you receive the Night Shard back, you will notice a new location marked in Roundtable Hold.
Retrieving the Night Shard
Proceed to the marked location in Roundtable Hold, which is near the beds. One of the beds contains a Vestige of Night that someone made. Interact with this item and initiate dialogue with the mysterious figure.
Show this figure the Vestige of Night—although, at this point, you only have the Night Shard, so the dialogue will focus on that. After conversing and showing the Night Shard, conclude this stage of the remembrance. The game will return you to the journal table.
Receiving Vestige of Night
Upon completing Chapter 4 Remembrance, you will receive the Vestige of Night as a relic. This item appears in your inventory and can be used in future stages of the questline.
Begin Chapter 6 Remembrance
Once you have the Vestige of Night, Chapter 6 Remembrance becomes available. Begin it from your journal. Unlike previous chapters, no obvious markers are guiding you. The objective states: "Find the person lurking in the Roundtable Hold."
To proceed, go to the sparring grounds area of Roundtable Hold, where you will find Iron Menial again.
Finding the Person Lurking in the Roundtable Hold
When you speak to Iron Menial here, he initially acts as if nothing unusual is happening. To reveal his proper form, you must attack him three times. Perform three consecutive attacks—such as light-heavy-light.
After these strikes, Iron Menial will drop his guise and reveal a version of you without your hat. Engage in dialogue with this impostor until they mention the Mechanical Mania, hinting that it is located in the Mosselum.
Finding Mechanical Mania
Located within Roundtable Hold is the cryptic location known as the Mosselum. It is recommended that you remain in the sparring grounds until you come across a notice that indicates a hefty door has opened.
Visit the stairway that is located below the little jar bazaar, descend to the door that leads to the crypt, and then enter. A little shining spot can be found on the floor of the crypt, which is located to the right of the back entrance.
Engage with it in order to activate the impostor that is disguised to look like you. You will be held responsible for this figure's dilemma. During the conversation, you should emphasize your innocence and bring up the Witch that you came across. You will eventually be presented with the Bone-Like Stone, which he will find on the floor and offer to you at some point.
Receiving the Bone-Like Stone
Your journal will be updated once you have finished having a conversation with the impostor and have obtained the Bone-Like Stone. You will now notice that you are unable to move forward until you have defeated the Night Aspect Nightlord, which means that you are currently trapped in Chapter 7, Remembrance.
Defeating the Night Aspect Nightlord
You have to beat the Night Aspect Nightlord in order to get to Chapter 7. You can do this after you have beaten four different Night Lords. It is strongly suggested that you fight this boss with other people, as going at it alone can be tricky.
To beat the boss's attacks, use the Recluse's skills and work with other players. After beating the Night Aspect Nightlord, go back to Roundtable Hold.
Interacting with the Infant and Unlocking the Remembrance Skin
Upon returning to Roundtable Hold, notice that the area appears greyed out. Proceed to the right side of the hold, near the beds. There, you will find a baby crying on one of the beds. Interact with the infant and choose to lay your hand upon it.
A brief scene will play out. After the scene, skip the end credits to return to Roundtable Hold. The area is no longer in remembrance mode, but you must return to the same bed.
Now, you will encounter the Witch, who will disappear when you interact with her, leaving her clothes behind on the floor. Interact with her Clothes, and you will receive the Remembrance Skin, which is a new attire that resembles your original garb but without the hat.
