Aegis functions as a turret-based tank character, controlling battlefield dynamics through deployable units and artifact synergies. This character combines ranged piercing attacks with strategic turret placement and defensive capabilities.

Aegis is great at handling several threats at once and dealing damage over time via both personal assaults and turret fire.

Aegis' Unlock Requirement

To unlock Aegis in Gatekeeper, you need to visit the Aurora planet twice per run. This can be achieved by choosing to continue your run by interacting with the Quorium after stage 12. After the second visit to the Aurora planet, Aegis will be unlocked.

Aegis Abilities

Aegis is a crystal-armored walking tank that controls the battlefield with turrets. He is a heavy-hitting ranged Gatekeeper with slow but powerful shots that pierce multiple enemies.

What makes Aegis particularly powerful is his ability to let his turrets use his artifacts - with three turrets deployed, every item you pick up becomes four times more effective.

Aegis can use magical cannons to deal damage that is similar to his own, turn into a ghost to avoid harm, and reach a higher state where he can quickly launch two attacks at once. This makes him great for players who like to play slowly and strategically instead of quickly.

Your playstyle with Aegis focuses on positioning and turret management. You deploy your turrets strategically, then use your piercing shots to eliminate enemies while your turrets provide additional firepower.

The ghostly form ability gives you an escape option when overwhelmed, while the enhanced state allows for burst damage phases.

Aegis was added in the 1.0 update and is considered one of the strongest characters due to his turret artifact synergy.

His methodical approach makes him ideal for players who enjoy tactical combat over rapid movement and reaction-based gameplay.
