Gatekeeper Guide | How to Unlock Bastion and Master Abilities

Bastion functions as a tank character in Gatekeeper, specializing in stunning enemies and dealing damage while maintaining survivability. This character thrives in the middle of combat, using crowd control abilities to manage groups of enemies.

Bastion's kit is all about amazing mechanics and health scaling, which makes it great for players who like tactical frontline fighting.

Bastion's Unlock Requirement

You may find Dawnbreaker near the northernmost point of Runewood, which is the first planet you explore. Every position is random, but you may start again until you get it. Then use 10 Omni Stones to turn on Dawnbreaker and open Bastion.

Bastion Abilities

Bastion offers one of the most enjoyable play styles because you get safety while standing in the middle of large groups of enemies by stunning them.

Your attack, Dawn Breaker, cleaves a wide range of enemies and deals significant damage quickly, especially if you can stun targets.

You can upgrade it for higher attack speed, which feels smooth. Upgrading Bastion's attack first is one of the most satisfying ways to play the character.

If you need more AOE, your secondary ability, Earth Shatter, provides AOE to complement your existing AOE. Once upgraded, it triggers multiple times, dealing massive damage. Since Bastion's theme is stunning, upgrades in that regard become handy. If you can get bonuses like critical hits against stunned enemies, you'll be very effective.

Valiant Charge provides movement and is good for getting away from or repositioning against foes. You can be aggressive and use your fourth ability to charge straight into a group, stun everything, get a damage bonus, then unleash your secondary and start hammering with your primary.

Roar, your fourth skill, offers incredible baseline utility. This is your primary stun that deals good damage and is easy to use. If you're in danger, you can stun all enemies and walk away from them, or stun them and unload for massive damage with Dawn Breaker.

Bastion's passive is Rising Fury - you get a damage bonus for being near enemies, enhanced if you're near a siren (boss).

When fully upgraded, the first skill scales off your maximum health, so stacking life is always beneficial on this tankiest character. You're a tank that deals damage and bashes enemies.

Most of the time, you should upgrade the first and second skills rather than focusing heavily on the fourth skill upgrades.
