John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Guide | Best Strike Build
The strongest Strike setup for clearing hordes fast and staying dangerous in every pressure spike.

Strike is the easiest damage class to trust when a run starts going wrong. It does not need a complicated setup, and it gives you immediate space when enemies flood an objective. The best Strike build leans into that strength instead of trying to turn the class into something slower or more defensive.
The Best Strike Build
A Fireball build that scales explosion size, energy gain, and explosive pressure is the best general construct. The path that makes Blast Radius bigger should be your main priority. Bigger explosions capture more foes, protect objectives better, and make every ability use feel like it was worth it. After that, the build gets a lot better when you add upgrades that focus on energy so that Fireball comes back faster.
At higher levels, Power Spike is the best upgrade for a pure burst build. It turns the class into a heavy hitter that can wipe out dense groups or seriously weaken dangerous targets in a single use. If you want a safer all-around version, Shatterblast is still excellent because it spreads damage across a wider area.

Best Perks and Skill Priorities
This build works best when you follow the explosive path through. Boosting energy gain is extremely important because more uptime means more crowd control and more breathing room. After that, Combatant-style upgrades that increase grenade count fit perfectly with the class. They let you keep pressure high even while your main ability is recharging.
This is also the best build for anyone still learning the game. It is strong in solo, useful in co-op, and excellent during defense sections, where beginner mistakes are usually punished the hardest.
Best Weapons for the Strike Build
It is best for Strike to have reliable weaponry. Because of the huge reward that is already brought by the class, it is more effective to employ assault rifles, submachine guns, and stable mid-range picks than difficult, specialized options. Your weapons should not compete with the primary strength of the build; rather, they should cover the time that passes between ability usage.

If you want a cleaner alternative, Sentinel can work for tighter defense setups, but the best overall Strike build is still the explosive Fireball route built around radius, energy, and burst damage.
