Everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood hero, Spider-Man, brings his speed and swagger to Marvel's cosmic invasion. Spider-Man’s kit tends to work a bit differently from the other heroes.

This guide will showcase his strengths, weaknesses, and how to best utilize him in combat; it's important that you have an understanding of how each of his moves functions to get the most out of him.

For Spider-Man's light attack, he has an uppercut that launches enemies into the air. This launch attack looks great at first, giving you space in time to attack; however, Spider-Man's attack arsenal does not possess attacks that flow well with his own launch attacks to best utilize enemies in the air.

This makes the attack particularly effective as an assisting tool rather than one you can utilise yourself.  Making the light attack fare better as an assist rather than doing solo damage.

Sprint Attack

The sprint attack tends to be Spider-Man’s better tool; it possesses a long range, and it also allows you to slide under enemy attacks. This makes it particularly handy against enemies that are shielded or at close distances without being tagged.

The only con for this attack is that it doesn’t carry enemies forward for juggles, which can limit combo potential.

Charge Attack

Spider-Man’s charge attack allows you to fire webs at real enemies; however, it doesn’t allow you to grab targets that are already in the air.

This is kind of disappointing, as it ruins the natural rhythm when doing combos, making the ability to launch enemies into the air not particularly useful.

Aerial Attack

Spider-Man’s aerial attack is his typical web-slinging move, which tends to be one of his weakest areas in Marvel Cosmic Invasion. When he swings on his web in front of enemies instead of his typical launch or uppercut attacks, Spider-Man kicks his enemies while swinging, only dealing light damage.

While swinging, you are invincible to knockback; however, you are still taking damage, making this attack not very versatile. This causes a compromise when it comes to air dominance and greatly reduces combo variety. Having a strong launch option that allows spidey to dive in would make his area attack more detrimental.

Special Moves and Passive

Spider-Man's special ability is hard-hitting, but you’ll only be able to connect it once, especially against bosses. It has a good reach, making it particularly useful against shielded enemies.

To best utilise it, you’ll want to use it after a knockdown. It doesn’t necessarily change well into combos, so your best bet is to save it for dealing safe damage and breaking defences.

Spider-Man‘s passive ability restores your ranged webs after a successful dodge. This encourages you to utilise movement and invasive play, making it particularly useful during longer fights.

But it does feel a bit redundant when you consider the web attacks to be of less damage, offering you minimal benefits and combo usage.

A Helping Hand

To best show Spider-Man’s strength, you will want to play as an assist character. Although that would depend purely upon your enjoyment, there’s nothing wrong with playing what you enjoy.

Spider-Man’s ability to play with his teammates makes him a great character; his launch attacks, which clearly launch enemies in the air, create great combo openings for aerial-based teammates, dealing significant damage.

His webbing can be a great asset for crowd control, making him a solid choice for team setups.

To best use Spidey, prioritize positioning and intelligent setups, pair him up with superheroes that benefit from his web-slinging, and though solo-ing him isn’t the current meta, it shouldn’t discourage you from playing him in whichever way you enjoy the game.
