Marvel Cosmic Invasion's Nova is a pretty balanced superhero that has decent damage and aerial control. Though not the most explosive superhero, he rewards players who make use of his invulnerability frames and careful positioning.

Light Attack

For Nova‘s light attack, he does a heavy downward punch. This punch needs to be timed well, as it sometimes clips through enemies that are slightly above or below him. His light attack combos can transition to enemies in the air and can knock enemies back upward.

Nova's punching style can feel a bit slow compared to other superheroes, but his damage output is decent.

Sprint Attack

Nova's sprint attack has him dash across the screen in a horizontal line, a ball of fire, hitting enemies in his path. When compared to other superheroes, his damage during the attack is pretty mediocre, as you’ll only deal 10 damage, and maintaining juggling strings and combos with this attack can be difficult when you compare it to superheroes like Phoenix.

Charged Attack

Nova's charged attack is probably the saviour of his kit; holding the charge attack surrounds him with a ball of fire, which also happens to be an invulnerability frame when the animation is played. This makes it clutch during intense situations when you get swarmed by enemies.

You’ll also be able to chain the attack to almost any sequence, especially those weak to fire damage.

Ranged Attack

Nova's range attacker is also fairly decent, if it weren’t limited to three uses. Nova shoots a rapid beam of fire that knocks enemies down; it’s particularly great against aerial threats, and although the damage is pretty limited, the knockback comes in handy, especially when dealing with a lot of enemies.

Aerial Attack

For Nova’s aerial attack, he defaults to a downward kick after his jump, allowing him to hit several targets. Although not the most spectacular, you do get a lot of variety as his aerial attacks can compare well with this charged attack and sprint attack, which you can also utilise in the air.

Special Attack

Nova's special attack is an enhanced version of his charged attack, making it a great attack overall. The charge fireball has a large radius, which makes it so that it’s also able to target enemies in the air. It’s best used when there are multiple enemies so you can take them all out at once.

Passive & Assist

Nova’s passive isn’t that impressive. You’ll get a buff to your range attack after using your special. This would be meaningful if the added buff weren't only five additional damage to the ranged attacks, 10.

As an assist, Nova pairs well with an aerial character for his assist, and spawns in with an uppercut, launching enemies in the air.

Nova is decent overall; he’s a reliable superhero, especially at crowd control with his charged attacks. A lot of his attacks may seem average, but when paired with the right combos, Nova can be a dependable superhero in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
