We are more than halfway through the year, and we already have our fair share of absolute bangers. Gamers have welcomed the newly released Nintendo Switch 2, along with excellent titles such as Mario Kart World.

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 will either be a triumphant return for this famous franchise or a relic barely hanging on in the new era. Borderlands 3 was criticized for parodying itself, but the next installment looks set to balance that out.

Major Upgrade for Nvidia GeForce NOW

Nvidia unveiled some major announcements at Gamescom. The tech company revealed that its newest generation Blackwell architecture will be included in GeForce NOW in what the corporation describes as its largest platform improvement ever. The update delivers GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud and adds DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation, which can improve stream quality up to 5K resolution at 120 frames per second. 

Ultimate subscribers will gain access to 62 teraflops of computational power and 48GB of frame buffer, while Performance tier customers can still use the improved experience. Frame rates will also improve substantially, up to 360 fps at 1080p, with response times as low as 30 milliseconds.

The GeForce NOW game catalog will also expand to over 4,500 titles thanks to a fresh Install-to-Play feature. This will let subscribers access significantly more of their PC game collections through cloud storage, including forthcoming titles such as Borderlands 4, Call of Duty, and Black Ops 7. The deployment begins in September. 

A Stellar Year Already

Many people will agree that 2025 has been one of the best years for gaming in a long while. Numerous titles released this year, such as The Legend of Zelda and Blue Prince, have Metascores over 90, more than in most recent years.

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 was also a hit, with 3.5 million consoles sold in just four days, which makes it the fastest-selling console in history. We can't wait to review 2025 as a whole as we prepare for the wonders of 2026.
