Make your Pokémon hit harder and tank better by fixing weak IVs with Hyper Training.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, every Pokémon has its own set of IVs. IVs strongly affect how high each stat can go, so better IVs help you build the most powerful version of a Pokémon. If you want stronger attackers or sturdier defenders, you want the best possible IVs for the stats that matter.

Unlock The Judge Function After Beating The Game

After you beat the game and watch the credits, you can unlock the Judge function. Talk to Nurse Joy after finishing the story to access IV checking. This is what lets you see how good or bad each IV is before you spend items.

How To Check IVs In Your Boxes

Open your menu, go to Boxes, hover over any Pokémon, and press the plus button to view stats. At the bottom, you will see Judge. Use it to view IV text like “Decent,” “Pretty Good,” or “No Good,” so you can quickly spot what needs fixing.

If you are building a special attacker like Gardevoir, weak Special Attack IVs can hold you back even if the moves are strong. For example, a Gardevoir using Psychic and Moonblast benefits a lot from improving Special Attack.

How To Get A Bottle Cap In Mesagoza

To change IVs, you need a Bottle Cap. Fly to Mesagoza, then find Delibird Presents. Go to General Goods to buy a Bottle Cap for 20,000. You can pay with cash or LP, so use whatever is easier.

Hyper Train Your Pokémon In Montenevera

Once you have a Bottle Cap, head to the ice town Montenevera at the top of the region. Walk around the Pokémon Center and talk to the NPC standing near an Abomasnow. This is where Hyper Training happens, and it is the step that upgrades the IV you choose.

What Happens After You Hyper Train

Before training, check the stat you want to improve to see the difference. In the example shown, Gardevoir had Special Attack at 193. After selecting Gardevoir, using a Bottle Cap, and choosing Special Attack, the training ends instantly. When you check again, Special Attack jumps up, and the IV display changes to show it is Hyper Trained, meaning it is now at maximum potential for that stat.

This method works for any Pokémon when you want better offensive or defensive potential, and it makes building strong teams much easier once you have access to Bottle Caps and Hyper Training.
