Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Guide | How to Evolve Slowpoke into Slowking Without Friends
Use King’s Rock and a smart Link Trade code to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking without needing anyone you know.

Evolving Slowpoke into Slowking normally sounds like a “trade with a friend” problem. In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, you can still do it solo. The trick is giving Slowpoke the correct held item, then using Link Trade with a code that helps you match with someone else who is doing the same thing.
Step 1: Buy King’s Rock From Delibird Presents
Go to Delibird Presents and open the Battle Items section. Buy a King’s Rock. This is the held item required for the evolution. The route shown uses Delibird Presents in the main town, but the item is available at the store, as shown in the guide.

Step 2: Give King’s Rock To Slowpoke
Open your bag, find King’s Rock, and choose the option to give it to a Pokémon. Select your Slowpoke and confirm. Once Slowpoke is holding King’s Rock, it is ready for the trade evolution.

Step 3: Use Poke Portal Link Trade With A Pokedex Code
Now open the Poke Portal and go to Link Trade. The method uses a simple idea: set your trade code to match the Pokedex number connected to the Pokémon you want to trade. In the route, Slowpoke is listed as Pokedex number 324, so the code is entered as a four-digit format by adding a zero in front. Use 0324, and you can even repeat it to make an eight-digit code like 03240324. This tells other traders you are swapping Slowpoke for Slowpoke, which is the goal.
Step 4: If The Code Is Slow, Switch To Slowking’s Pokedex number.
If you are not matching with anyone quickly, change the code strategy. Instead of using Slowpoke’s number, use Slowking’s Pokedex number in the code. This can help you match with other people specifically trying to evolve into Slowking. In the route shown, switching codes is what finally finds a trade partner.

Step 5: Trade Slowpoke And Let It Evolve
Deal with someone who has a Slowpoke and trade yours while it still has King's Rock. Once the trade is done, the evolution happens instantly, and the Slowpoke you traded turns into a Slowking right away.
