Ryoma Sakamoto in Rise of the Rōnin serves as one of the main allies you can recruit in Rise of the Rōnin. This samurai warrior becomes available through story progression and offers combat abilities that complement various playstyles.

His recruitment process occurs naturally through the main mission completion, making him one of the more accessible allies in the game.
How to Unlock Ryoma Sakamoto
To make Ryoma Sakamoto your friend, you need to finish the main task "Curtain Falls, Curtain Rises". This mission takes place as the main story in Chapter 1 of the game moves forward. There are several fights and storylines in the game that move the main plot forward.
During this mission, you will face different enemies and finish tasks that will bring the goal to a close. You have to use different tools and strategies in both indoor and outdoor battles that are part of the task.

As soon as you finish the task and meet all of its goals, Ryoma Sakamoto will immediately appear in your network of friends.
To hire him, you don't have to do any other Bond tasks or make any choices during the mission. Unlike some other friends who need specific actions or choices, his recruitment is sure once the task is over.
Combat Abilities and Equipment
As his main weapon, Ryoma Sakamoto uses a sword, which makes him good at fighting close up. He also has a pistol as a backup weapon, which lets him hit from a distance during a fight. With this combo, he can successfully fight foes at both close and middle range.
His gift power is called "Trigger of Done," and it gives your character two perks. First, it raises the highest number of bullets you can keep in your pistol.

This gives you more weapons for fighting from a distance. It also makes your pistol shots do more fire damage, which makes your long strikes stronger against enemies.
Bond Level Rewards
When you reach maximum bond level with Ryoma Sakamoto, he provides several rewards that enhance your character's abilities.
He will teach you the Hokushin combat style for your katana, which comes from the Chi skill tree. This combat style offers new attack combinations and techniques for katana combat.

Additionally, at the maximum bond level, Ryoma grants you two charm skill points. These skill points can be invested in the charm skill tree to unlock various abilities that affect social interactions, enemy behavior, and other gameplay mechanics.

The combination of the new combat style and skill points makes reaching maximum bond level with Ryoma worthwhile for character development.
