Solarpunk Guide | How to Take Care of Sheep

In Solarpunk, as you venture further out into the world, you'll encounter sheep, and once you're established, milking them is not too difficult. This guide will explain where to find them and how to get them producing for you.

Where to Find Sheep

Sheep will not be encountered immediately. They begin to appear as you move up the rungs, or islands, further away from where you began. The second rung is typically where you'll spot your first one. Pigs may be found roaming the same areas as you, so don't be surprised to see them.

Setting Up a Sheep Station

After locating sheep, the Sheep Station will be unlocked. To recall sheep from a far away island, use the Animal Platform and then assign it to your base. Then ensure that it has water and food, as the sheep will not produce anything without these covered.

Feeding and Watering

Early on, it can be a chore to keep water and food supplies on hand. As soon as you're able to, unlock the Automated Waterer and the Automated Feeder. Set up one of each and use them with all your animals, not just the sheep. It simplifies the entire process a lot.

Getting Milk

After food and water are provided, the sheep will choose a Sheep Pen and lie down. Then they will begin to make milk gradually and it will automatically go into a storage bin. This is treated the same as chickens laying eggs, so you'll hear it called the sheep laying milk, although that's not how milk works.
