Tales of Arise Guide | How to Beat Venoflage
Here's a guide on how to beat the Venoflage in Tales of Arise
Game Guide by Mash Rahman on Jun 02, 2026
As your rebellion cuts down the power bases of the Renan lords, your further foray into the palace grounds of Elde Menancia is about to take a very disturbing turn. Before you can secure the region fully, you are forced to hunt down a monstrous, highly evolved zeugle known as Venoflage. This creature is an enormous leap forward in environmental chaos and mechanical deception from any boss fight before it.
Venoflage is a giant chameleon-looking beast that won't fight you head-on. It uses absolute invisibility, fast leaping attacks, and extremely concentrated toxic poison clouds very well to systematically butcher your party. It makes the air in the arena itself an enemy, so you're fighting an opponent you can't often even see. In this guide, we’ll cover the precise strategies, equipment optimizations, and tactical changes required to expose this hidden nightmare and cleanse the palace grounds.

Gear Optimization and Essential Preparations
If you blunder into Venoflage's foggy hunting grounds without carefully checking your character loadouts, you'll get a quick and messy party wipe. Before embarking on this quest, be sure to visit the blacksmith in Viscint to fully upgrade the armor and weaponry of your active party. It is absolutely critical that Alphen is using his strongest available fire-infused blade to burn through the rubbery hide of the beast.
For this harrowing battle, your active four-man fighting roster will be Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell and Dohalim. The defensive accessories you choose will be vital to your survival, as Venoflage uses dark-elemental magic exclusively and inflicts the highly debilitating Poison status ailment quite often. You should make and gear up Onyx Cloaks or poison-resistance gear on your frontline fighters, it will save your party a lot of grief.
Without these specific protections, your health bars will be depleted to zero in seconds by the boss’s wide toxic clouds. And, your inventory must be heavily restocked with vital medical consumables prior to the fight. Use the Gald you earned to get a full stock of Antidotes for instant poison cure, and a good stock of Apple Gels and Orange Gels to keep your HP and common Cure Points pool stable throughout the long fight.
Balanced Support: Configuring the Party AI
Because Venoflage is incredibly fast and often attacks your backline spellcasters while invisible, configuring your AI companions’ behavior is essential to keep control. You need to take direct control of Alphen for this battle, actively keeping the creature's immediate focus on him with his heavy sword strikes. Before you enter the boss arena, pause the game and open the Strategy menu to change your team’s tactical logic.
You will need to tell Shionne explicitly that she is to act as your dedicated and primary lifesaver. Set her parameters to prioritize healing and status recovery completely. She'll automatically cast First Aid or use an Antidote the exact millisecond a character gets poisoned or drops below half health. Rinwell has to be told to stay on the outside edge, always casting her long-range elemental spells to do safe chip damage from afar.
Dohalim should be built as a fast secondary physical damage dealer and backup healer so you can keep up the pressure on the boss at close range, and toss out some extra healing spells when things get a little hectic. Spread out your supportive backline safely so you have a low chance of your whole team getting caught in a single sweeping toxic blast and you can fight comfortably at close quarters.
Phase One Navigation & The Invisibility Mechanic
Once the battle officially begins, Venoflage will immediately use its most annoying ability and completely blend into the surrounding environment. The boss is totally invisible, but not targetable by your normal targeting systems and will aggressively sprint around the arena to get itself into position for a devastating ambush. Its main secret weapons are sudden lunges forward, hefty slashes with its tail and a massive leap that can crush an unprepared character in an instant.
The first few minutes of the game are very draining and to survive you must resist the urge to just run around and swing your sword at empty air. Instead, adopt a very patient defensive posture and watch the environment with an absolute focus. Even unseen, venoflage hints at its current position with subtlety: warped ripples in the air, swirling clouds of dust on the stone floor, and definite sounds of footfalls as it hurries ahead.
If you see the air warp, or see a sudden shadow looming over Alphen, the boss is actively launching an ambush attack. To get a Perfect Evade, you need to time your dodge roll just right, which slows down the action around you for a split second. Immediately follow this up with a Counter Edge to reveal the outline of the beast, giving your team the chance to fight back with short, controlled combo strings.
Using Dohalim's Vine Bind Boost Attack
Your party members’ Boost Gauges will gradually turn a bright blue glow as you constantly avoid unseen attacks. Properly managing these companion assists is the absolute key to completely disabling Venoflage’s stealth capabilities and forcing open generous damage windows. Dohalim’s specialty Boost Attack is your most valuable tool in this particular fight.
His astral rod can summon thick, thorny vines from the earth, designed to snare and ground especially agile, fast-moving targets. The very moment you see Venoflage go invisible or start to frantically run around the outer walls of the arena, hit Dohalim’s Boost Attack. The following vine eruption will automatically track down the hidden beast and violently wrap itself around its legs and slam it into the dirt.
If you can land this boost assist it will completely break its stealth camo, break its current offensive momentum and cause an instant Core Break state. This leaves the giant chameleon paralyzed on the ground for a long window of time. Alphen is completely useless here, but tell him to pull out all of his best Flaming Edge moves and burn through its HP pool without contest.

Toxic Puddles and Aerial Tail Swipes Management
Once you've taken out a good chunk of Venoflage's health bar, it'll temporarily drop the invisibility trick and start flooding the arena with biochemical hazards. The beast will get on it's back legs and violently puke great streams of purple poison all over the stone floor. These streams of liquid soon gather into large, persistent pools of poison which do constant damage and instantly poison anyone standing in them.
During this dangerous phase, you will need to change your spacing dramatically, and resist the urge to stay close to the boss. Keep Alphen around the edge of the toxic puddles, and the beast will come to you instead of fighting in the venom. Also, Venoflage will occasionally use its long flexible tail to grab onto the ceiling architecture, suspending itself in the air to rain down continuous physical slams from above.
As soon as the boss is airborne, use Shionne’s specialized Boost Attack right away. Her high-velocity rifle fire is meant to puncture and bring down airborne threats, and hitting Venoflage while it’s hanging from the ceiling will immediately bring it crashing back down to earth, creating another massive stagger window for your melee fighters to exploit.
Surviving Phase Two Over Limit Rage
Once you lower Venoflage's health pool past the midway threshold, its ferocity will hit its absolute peak. The beast will let out a savage roar and surround itself in a blazing blue aura, signaling it has officially entered its Over Limit state. In this chaotic second half of the fight, its physical stats are massively boosted, its movement speed is doubled and it will combine its invisibility mechanics with its toxic breath in quick succession.
It will start teleporting and lunging all over the arena with reckless abandon, leaving a trail of toxic gas clouds behind it with every single movement. This is a ridiculously dangerous gamble that will result in an immediate party wipe if you try to trade hits with the beast or interrupt its animations while it is like this. As soon as the blue aura appears, you need to switch to a full defensive playstyle and forget about all offensive thoughts.
Just run in wide, continuous circles around the outer edges of the palace arena, and do well-timed dodge rolls to slip past its tracking lunges. Keep a close eye on your shared Cure Points gauge, manually pausing the game to use items from your menu if Shionne runs out of magical energy while trying to keep the team stable. You just focus on surviving, and wait for the Over Limit aura to pass away naturally.

Delivering the Killing Blow
Venoflage will be very tired when the grueling Over Limit onslaught finally winds down and will be very vulnerable to your final attack. Finally, your last chance to use its fatigue and win the battle you have fought so hard for. Coordinate Alphen’s blazing sword strikes with any remaining companion Boost Gauges to lock the giant chameleon into a loop of unbreakable staggering.
Your entire party should be throwing damage into its vulnerable body, and the blue crosshair diamond floating directly above the boss will quickly fill up to max capacity. The exact moment the Strike indicator starts flashing wildly across your screen, press the corresponding directional pad prompt to execute a cinematic team-up finishing move. The final blow is spectacular, it shatters the beast's core for good, the hunt officially ends.
Defeating Venoflage is a major milestone and demonstrates your ability to handle invisible threats, environmental dangers and coordinate your companion’s assistance effectively under intense pressure. The hidden pestilence was purged from the palace grounds and the immediate threats to the stability of Elde Menancia were removed. Your battle-hardened party can safely collect their rewards, rest up at the nearest campfire, and prepare for the next big trials awaiting you beyond the boundaries of the world.
