Here's a guide on how to get iron pipe and solve the mystery in Tales of Arise

Tales of Arise’s huge world is filled with tons of optional side-quests that add depth to the story and reward you with special items. Many of the side missions consist of simple monster hunts or gathering resources for townspeople around the area, but a few require some detective work. One of the more memorable of these intellectual challenges is a late-game sub-quest in which your party solves a multi-layered riddle.

Completing this environmental puzzle will reward you with something called the Iron Pipe, which at first seems bland. On the surface, a simple piece of rusted plumbing sounds absolutely worthless, but it is actually one of the most crucial and easily overlooked crafting materials in the entire game.
For players looking to maximize Alphen's combat capabilities, this pipe is a must-have, as it's the foundation for crafting one of his most powerful endgame swords.
The Bard's Way
You can't just go into this mystery as soon as you reach the mid-game regions. The quest is locked behind a very specific chain of prerequisites that must be met across multiple realms. To find the riddle, you have to go through the main story until you’ve completely liberated the beautiful, pastoral land of Elde Menancia.
Once the main story opens up the region for you to roam around freely, you need to make your way to the scenic Overseer Hill. Here you will automatically start an optional side quest called A Healer and Her Patients. Shionne's mission is to use her unique astral healing energies to tend to the injured and sick citizens in the immediate vicinity of the campsite.
In this healing work, you attend to a variety of citizens, including one eccentric, overly dramatic individual who is extremely thankful for Shionne's magic. This short, seemingly unimportant exchange is of enormous importance. If you don’t do this particular healing quest line, the eccentric character will not spawn later on in the game, and you will be entirely locked out of getting the Iron Pipe for the remainder of your playthrough.
After the Wonder Bard, to Niez
You’ve successfully healed the eccentric traveler on Overseer Hill, but now you must continue to push the core campaign forward through the dramatic events of the Mahag Saar storyline. Now that the heavily fortified city of Niez has been liberated from its tyrant ruler and the political scene has settled down, you can finally start the hunt for the legendary pipe. Fast-travel straight to the Niez entrance from Mount Dhiara.
Immediately to the right of the stone archway at the entrance to the city, you'll see the familiar person you saved back in Elde Menancia. He is now famously known as the Wonder Bard and is impossible to miss in his flamboyant, multicolored costume, which contrasts with the dark, ruined architecture of Niez. As you approach this colorful performer, talking to him will officially kick off the sub-quest known as The Mysterious Pair.
The Wonder Bard, in his typically bombastic and theatrical fashion, explains to Alphen and the party that he has unfortunately lost a legendary, culturally important instrument. He challenges your group to use your collective cunning to unlock his memories and locate the object. Instead of a convenient quest marker on your map, the bard gives Alphen three individual pieces of parchment collectively called the Wonder Texts.
Deconstruction of the Three Wonder Texts
To find the hidden object, you will have to read and analyze the cryptic clues written on the three individual Wonder Texts. The first piece of parchment contains a riddle stating that the item is just beyond the hovels in a land of sand and stone. The mention of sand, stone and poor hovels is a very clear environmental nod to the harsh, arid landscapes of Calaglia, the very first slave realm you explored at the very start of your long journey.
The second Wonder Text adds another layer of geography to the mystery. The document states that the instrument is in the northernmost region of a wasteland directly north of an abandoned village. Upon a closer examination of the world map of Calaglia, the abandoned village perfectly matches the lore of the ruins near Ulzebek, and the vast wasteland stretching directly to the north of that area is none other than the Iglia Wastes.
The third and final Wonder Text tells you the exact micro-location within that zone so you don't wander aimlessly. It states that the object is to be found dormant at the back of a narrow road to the west, where an ancient tower proudly stands. This last clue narrows the search to the narrow, dead-end canyon path next to the Fagan Ruins, which is the giant, ancient edifice on the western side of the Calaglian desert.
Don't Get The Party Mis-Direction
These three texts will trigger a short optional skit or piece of party dialogue from your active companions when you first open them in your inventory. Rinwell will jump in with her own theories, and will confidently suggest to the group that, because there are three distinct texts, the party must go to three completely separate locations across the globe to find three different treasures. Do not let Rinwell’s dialogue confuse or misdirect your journey.

The three Wonder Texts are actually clues about layering one single, specific point on the map. They aren't independent puzzles, they are a series of overlapping coordinates that lead you to one particular spot. The coordinates are solved, and the target is the northern tip of the Calaglian Desert. You can safely ignore any suggestions to search other realms.
Discovered Legendary Instrument
Open your map menu and start a fast travel directly to the Iglia Wastes in the realm of Calaglia. As soon as you appear at the fast-travel point, turn to the far north of the zone map. You will have to cross the desert sands beyond the low-level wolf and golem zeugles that wander there. By this point in your journey, these early enemies are utterly meaningless, and can be dispatched or outrun in a sprint without so much as a fight.
Turn onto the quiet rocky dead-end street located just northeast of the obvious entrance to the Fagan Ruins. Pick your way carefully to the very end of this dead-end canyon of stone, keeping your eye on the dusty ground at all times. At the very edge of the rock wall, on the dirt floor, you will see a shiny, sparkling gold interactive point pulsing.
As you get close to this shimmering spot, an interaction button will pop up on your screen. When asked, Alphen will drop to his knees and begin digging frantically into the desert soil, digging out the long-lost item from its hiding place. For the great comedic delight of your party members, the fabled, mythical instrument the eccentric bard describes is literally just a rusty, discarded Iron Pipe.
Your Claim for Big Rewards
With the rusty pipe safely in your key items inventory, fast-travel back to the city of Niez in Mahag Saar and speak with the Wonder Bard at the stone entrance. This leads to a hilarious exchange of dialogue when the flamboyant performer is handed the metallic tube. The bard takes the rusty piece of plumbing with a dramatically reverent air - as if he were handling a priceless, sacred relic of musical perfection.
This strange conversation will officially complete The Mysterious Pair sub-quest in your adventure log. The game quickly rewards your efforts with a nice sum of twenty-three hundred Gald and fifteen precious Skill Points to fill in your characters' active title panels. You also get a handy bundle of three Life Bottles to add to your combat healing supplies for future boss battles.
More importantly, upon completing this quest, you will receive a unique key item called the Quivering Candles Artifact permanently. This unique artifact can be turned on or off in your main menu and gives a permanent passive buff to your gameplay experience. Turn on the Quivering Candles artifact and the game’s drop mechanics get a massive boost, with defeated enemies dropping a lot more crafting materials, meaning you’ll spend way less time grinding for rare monster drops in endgame dungeons.

Making Alphen's ultimate sword
The sub-quest is now officially over and the artifact is a fantastic boon, but the real prize is the Iron Pipe itself. You cannot accidentally sell or otherwise get rid of this pipe, as it is protected by the game as a unique material. When you’ve completed the end-game chapters of the campaign or the post-game content, visit any local blacksmith or use the crafting menu at any campfire site.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the weapon forging list in Alphen and you’ll find a special recipe for crafting a sword called the Realm Unifier. The Iron Pipe is the one ingredient you cannot replace to get this forge started. You’ll also need to gather some rare, high-level monster materials to craft the weapon, such as Ominous Eyeballs and Cursed Claws, which can be easily acquired from the powerful zeugles that can be found within the late-game dungeon of Tarfhal Helgarahi.
Once you finally gather the materials and craft the weapon, the Realm Unifier has a very hilarious visual aspect, as it resembles nothing more than a plain rusted pipe, tightly wrapped in industrial tape. Its stats are completely jaw-dropping despite its very comical, joke-weapon aesthetic. The Realm Unifier has huge physical and elemental attack stats, that can easily compete against the strongest legendary blades in the whole game, ensuring that Alphen can easily cut through the hardest post-game bosses Dahna has to offer.
