This encounter serves as the final boss battle in the second leading region and presents a challenging two-phase fight that will test your combat skills and preparation.

When you encounter Fang Ling, she changes into a Chimaera when you deplete her first health bar, which puts you in a dynamic encounter where you'll need different strategies for different phases in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Location and Access

You'll find this boss in Cloudspire at the Shaft Entrance. To reach the arena, follow the path beyond the shrine until you come to an elevator.

Before engaging the boss, ride this elevator to establish a shortcut connection to the earlier Shaft Entrance shrine.

Once you've secured this route, step onto the wooden bridge to drop into the boss arena below.

If you need to try the fight again, respawn at the Shaft Entrance and take the elevator to the left of the shrine to get back to the battle.

Before you face the boss, you must interact with all the NPCs in the Cloudspire region because you won't be able to talk to them after you defeat the boss.

Preparation Requirements

You need a character level of 60 or higher for this encounter, and your primary weapon should be an axe. The difficulty rating is 6.5 out of 10, so getting ready is vital for success.

For armor, equip gear that provides strong resistance against Slash and Stab damage types.

The Centipede Armor Set works particularly well for this purpose and can be purchased from Tao Qing, a merchant found in either the Shu Sanctum or the Refugee Camp in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Your character build should focus heavily on Strength and Vitality stats, with all skill points invested in axe-related upgrades.

A good stat distribution includes 49 Strength and 38 Vitality at level 60. Also, invest at least 13 points in Feathering to improve your defense against her magical attacks in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Buy Bone Needle – Leech from the left skill tree. This ability is crucial for surviving the fight.

Make sure you have unlocked the Axe & Hook and Chop & Weave. These skills are a must if you want to deal with the sword attacks of the boss.

Phase One Strategy

In the first phase, you face Perfect Bride – Fang Ling in her humanoid form. She mainly uses Slash and Stab attacks along with various spells.

Begin the encounter by immediately buffing your axe with Leech, as this ability allows you to regain health with every successful hit.

Your primary strategy is to time your charged heavy attacks to coincide with her sword strikes. When she starts any sword attack, begin your charged heavy attack (the spinning axe move) right away.

This approach counters her attacks, reducing most incoming damage while Leech helps restore your health. You can deal damage while taking very little in return.

After successfully hitting with a charged heavy attack, continue with light attack combinations until your stamina runs out, then start over. Understanding her attack patterns is key to consistent success in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Watch for her spell attacks, which include projectiles, floor blast waves, and sound waves emanating from her position.

Dodge the projectiles and floor attacks, but you can tank through the sound wave if you're near full health, continuing your assault with light attacks during her casting animations.

Her most dangerous attacks include a jump-spinning sword combo that ends with devastating damage, and a stab move followed by a grapple animation.

If your heavy attack timing fails against the spinning combo, you risk taking the complete final hit. However, successfully clashing her stab move prevents the grapple from connecting.

Phase Two Strategy

Once you deplete her first health bar, Fang Ling transforms into Chimaera, having a different attack pattern.

The transformation marks a significant shift in the approach to combat.

The phase begins with her charging at you three to four times consecutively. Wait until the last moment before dodging each charge.

After this opening sequence, she alternates between melee attacks if you remain close and magical abilities if you maintain distance.

Maintain distance from her to encourage magical attack usage, as these create better opportunities for counterattacks in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

When she fires a laser from her head, she becomes completely stationary and vulnerable, providing your best opening for heavy damage.

Similarly, when red rocks begin falling from the ceiling, you can attack freely without retaliation.

Since clashing no longer works in this phase because she isn't wielding any weapons, you must avoid her melee attacks.

To dodge her incoming attacks, make sure to watch the timing of her spells, and when she casts her spells, you have to position yourself behind her in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

To maintain the Leech Buff, always pay attention to when it expires so that you can apply it whenever it expires during the battle.

Enter the second phase with 4-5 healing items remaining, and focus on mastering the first phase's timing to conserve resources in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
