AMD Zen6 Ryzen10000 CPU Spotted as Medusa Point NextG APU Enters Early Testing Phase

AMD’s Zen6 Medusa Point processor appears in shipping records, confirming early validation of Ryzen10000 NextG desktop APUs.

RX 10000 finally shows that high-end GPUs are available at a good price. The first Ryzen 10000 CPU has been spotted, suggesting that NextG desktop APUs are on the way. Before we get to it, AMD might also add new software functionality to older GPUs.

The first Zen6 CPU from AMD has been spotted on a shipment list under the name "Medusa1" and with stepping AZ0. Zen6 is the architecture AMD will use in its next-generation CPUs, which will likely be called Ryzen AI and power the Ryzen 10000 series.

The listing suggests that the early silicon is meant for validation. It also proves that the chip is part of the Medusa Point family, AMD's next-generation APUs. The manifest shows a "4C4D" setup, indicating four classic cores and four dense cores. Earlier leaks from HXL in May 2025 talked about a similar architecture with two low-power cores that might not be included in this shorter commercial entry.

The processor uses 28W of power. Earlier leaks also said the iGPU would have 8 CUs and be based on RDNA3.5+. This means that AMD hasn't yet switched these APUs to RDNA4 graphics, if this is true. Still, the fact that Medusa Point is out shows that AMD's NextG architecture is making progress.

Desktop Ryzen APUs are Finally Getting an Upgrade

Ryzen 8700 G is AMD's current desktop APU. It came out two years ago and has 8 cores, 16 threads, and a 12CU RDNA3 iGPU. It's been too long since a replacement was needed.

The Ryzen AI9HX475, coming soon, will have 12 cores and 24 threads. It will have four Zen5 cores and eight Zen5C cores. The complete Zen5 cores can boost to 5.2GHz. The iGPU is the biggest improvement; it now has 16CUs instead of 12. That alone makes the visuals 33% better than the 8700G's.

The iGPU is also 200 MHz faster than the previous iteration. Radeon 890 M in the HX370 was about 20% to 25% faster than the earlier Radeon 780 M. The new boost clocks make performance even better. The AI performance also increases from 16 TOPS on the 8700G to 60 TOPS on the HX475.

Ryzen AI 400 Series Will Be Available for AM5 Desktops

A slide during Lenovo's CES2026 keynote showcased a Ryzen AI Pro 400-series CPU for the AM5 platform. Not only did AMD's own CES conference talk about the Pro series, but it also announced the first desktop Copilot+ CPU, called the Ryzen AI400.

This proves three things. First, there will be non-Pro desktop variants. Second, AMD is calling their desktop APUs "Ryzen AI." Third, these will be the first Copilot+ desktop CPUs, thanks to the 60TOPS NPU performance.

The improved desktop APUs are still a long-needed improvement, even though full FSR4 features would have been possible with RDNA4 graphics compatibility.

FSR Redstone Could Work on Older GPUs

Someone asked AMD's Senior VP of GPU Technologies if a beta version of FSR Redstone could work on RDNA3 hardware. His answer made it clear that it is not in the works right now, but the idea is being considered.

FSR Redstone now officially supports RX 9000 GPUs because its FP8 computing is tuned for hardware. RX 7000 cards don't have FP8, but they do have INT8. Modders were able to enable FSR4 on the RX 7000 before using leaked source code intended for INT8.

The downside is that it doesn't perform as well as FP8, which could be why AMD hasn't officially supported it yet. Still, FSR based on INT8 still works better than not using it at all. Many RX 7000 customers would benefit from an official experimental release, but AMD has not said it is working on one.

RX 10000 GPUs Aim for Low Prices

AMD's RX 10000 GPUs will be cheaper than Nvidia's RTX60-series GPUs. Rumors say AMD might even go up against Nvidia's RTX 6090 at the high end.

NVIDIA is presently the leader in the high-end GPU market, which allows it to charge more because there isn't much competition. Project Amethyst is a joint effort between AMD and Sony that will also affect the PS6. It is predicted that AMD's next-generation GPUs will have better ray tracing capabilities.

Leaker Kepler wrote on Anitech forums that RDNA5 is set to be out in 2027 and that AMD would rather launch after Nvidia. NVIDIA can lower its prices if AMD debuts first, since it has higher margins. AMD can lower Nvidia's advertised prices by waiting, since Nvidia rarely changes its MSRP after that.

If AMD uses the same pricing strategy for higher-end models as it did for the 9070 XT, the GPU market could witness big price adjustments.

AMD's roadmap reveals that CPUs, APUs, GPUs, and software are all becoming better. Zen6 CPUs, new desktop APUs, likely FSR support for older GPUs, and competitive RX 10000 prices all point to a hardware market that is more balanced. The real value of these projects will depend on how well they work and how much they cost when they are finished.
