PC hardware prices are changing, and industry sources predict shifts that could affect CPUs, GPUs, and storage. Recent disclosures, negotiations with partners, and signs in the supply chain all point to big changes in the next few months.

At the same time, Linux adoption continues rising as Windows users look elsewhere, and AMD's next major CPU generation is shaping up to be one of the most significant upgrades in years.

AMD GPU Prices Set for Another Increase

We recently saw reports that GPU prices had already risen in October, but not enough to keep pace with the rapid surge in memory costs. New information from Taiwanese industry sources now suggests AMD has notified partners of a second price increase across its entire graphics card lineup. The expected rise is at least 10%, potentially more depending on the model.

That could mean a $60+ bump for higher-end cards. Earlier leaks also hinted that AMD and Nvidia might cancel some lower-end models, creating additional upward pressure.

Although these increases aren’t officially confirmed, rising memory prices and multiple insider reports make the outcome seem likely unless a significant downturn hits the AI market.

Black Friday Hardware Deals Worth Considering

Before prices shift further, several Black Friday deals in the U.S. stand out across GPUs, storage, and CPUs. We found an RX 9700 XT Reaper model available at MSRP, which is notable in the current market. There’s also an RTX 5070, slightly above MSRP but still positioned as a fair option for Nvidia-leaning buyers.

High-capacity storage deals include a WD10TB 7200RPM HDD at $199.99, down from $ 269.99. For faster storage, a Samsung 4TB 9100 Pro PCIe 5.0 SSD is listed at $369.99, offering up to 14800 MB/s.

For CPU shoppers, the Ryzen 9800X3D is down around 6%, while the Ryzen 7800X3D sits at $384. B remains a strong gaming option, with the 980 X3D at the top of gaming performance charts.

Windows Users Shifting Toward Linux

Telemetry from Zorin OS developers shows over 1 million downloads of Zorin OS 18, with more than 78% coming from Windows computers. That implies that, in just five weeks, about 780,000 Windows users may have switched to this Linux distribution. While download data isn’t a precise assessment of entire OS migrations, it nevertheless demonstrates substantial interest.

Zorin OS is designed to feel familiar to Windows users and offers features such as installable web apps, a privacy-focused design, and wide game compatibility supported by SteamOS advancements.

Final Thoughts

Multiple motherboard vendors, including MSI, are preparing updated AM5 motherboards featuring larger 64MB BIOS chips instead of 32MB. These boards are labeled as supporting “next-level CPU upgrades with better compatibility.”

Leakers emphasize that Zen 6 will work with both 32MB and 64MB BIOS variants across 600-and 800-series boards. It is designed to avoid the Zen 3 issue where motherboards with limited BIOS space had to drop support for older CPUs.Early Zen 6 details point toward major architectural and performance jumps.
