Gearbox Studios has been hard at work churning out impressive content for their biggest Borderlands game yet, and it seems like they are unwilling to stop while they're ahead, which is great for fans of the looter-shooter. In a recent trailer during Gamescom, the Borderlands team revealed the fourth DLC expansion, titled Psycho Kreig and the Fantastic Fustercluck. To interest fans in the September 10 launch, the trailer featured a fair amount of gameplay to hint at what players will be accomplishing within the maze that is Kreig's mind.

The official release trailer began by announcing the players' overall objective: discovering, and consequently looting, Vaulthalla. According to Tannis, uncovering this location within Kreig's mind could help with his mental state, as well as provide players with new weapons.

As players explore Kreig's vast mind, they begin to learn more about the psycho that was added on to Borderlands 2 as a DLC character. In one area, Kreig can be seen assaulting a COV base with Lilith; this event could reveal why the psycho was not a part of the Borderlands 3 character roster.

The trailer also revealed an area that included a murderous train, revealing that Gearbox has recognized the freedom that they have to put virtually any enemy into Kreig's mindscape. The train also reportedly holds memories of "someone close to Kreig," likely referring to his memories of Maya, who suffered an untimely death at the hands of the Calypso twins within the main game.

The final location revealed in the trailer will likely detail Kreig's official origin story, which was told to players of Borderlands 2. Playing through it will prove another, more emotional challenge as players are swarmed by Hyperion loaders and being guided by the two personalities of Kreig: the psycho Kreig, and sane Kreig.

Although Kreig and other DLC characters had so much success in previous Borderlands installments, Gearbox is hesitant to release DLC characters for Borderlands 3. However, depending on the story that is told through this newest DLC may begin to set the stage for Borderlands 4, or even another spinoff that continues the story behind the vaults.
