New Generation Grand Theft Auto V Features First-Person Perspective

This is the first time any GTA title can be played in first-person

It finally happened. The prayers of thousands of players have been answered and, after years in the market, the Grand Theft Auto franchise finally gets its first-person treatment. According to Rockstar, the remastered versions, for Xbox One and PS4, of Grand Theft Auto V will feature an optional first-person perspective. This means, players will be able to enjoy the game, both, as a third person open-world or more like a FPS.

It is impossible not to make a comparison to other titles that feature this duality, such as Bethesda's Fallout 3/New Vegas and Oblivion/Skyrim or games from the Jedi Knight series. In this sense, Rockstar commented about the difficulty of achieving an enjoyable experience for players in both modes. According to the company, only the horsepower of modern consoles could bare the amount of power, in terms of memory, of having both modes presents. This meant that developers had to retool animations for the environment, as well as the addition of several NPCs in order to make it look like a crowded and moving city.

For those who have played multiplayer mode in GTA V, the addition of first-person perspective means a game changer, not only because the aiming improves drastically while switching perspectives, but because the range of vision becomes limited in contrast, which may make it feel more like a regular shooter title.

Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One and PS4 will hit stores next November 18, about a year after its last-gen release. If you havent's played this record-breaking title, it's your chance to see what all the fuzz was about.
