Atari, one of the world's most recognizable consumer brands and makers of interactive entertainment, is commemorating the anniversary of the company's creation on June 27, 1972, by releasing an exclusive video interview featuring a conversation between CEO Wade Rosen and the company founder Nolan Bushnell.

Founder Nolan Bushnell and CEO Wade Rosen sat down for the interview on IGN and Atari's official website to talk about the legacy of creativity and invention left by Atari, as well as its impact on the current video game industry, the company's continued presence in popular culture, and what will characterize Atari's next 50 years of growth.

A special Golden Anniversary sale is now being held to celebrate Atari's customers and supporters. This sale features limited-time discounts on Atari video game consoles and unique 50th-anniversary t-shirts, all of which are currently available on the Atari website. According to Wade Rosen, Chief Executive Officer of Atari, "the history of the early days of Atari is, in many respects, the history of the creation of video games. As we commemorate the enormous influence that Atari has had on popular culture and the video gaming industry over the last fifty years, I am thrilled to share this extremely unique chat with Atari's creator, Nolan Bushnell."

Atari has returned to its origins in premium game creation and publishing since Rosen accepted the company's CEO post. This led the company to launch new games and deliver more content to PC, console, and streaming platforms. As part of its comeback, the firm announced today that five of these new titles would be heading to Stadia, which is Google's platform for online gaming. This year, Google is bringing the first four games in the Atari Recharged series to the Stadia platform. These games include Centipede, Black Widow, Asteroids, and Breakout.

Centipede: Recharged will be available for purchase in the Stadia shop on July 1, 2022, and can be claimed for free with a Stadia Pro subscription. The Recharged series brings classic Atari games up to date for the gaming hardware of the current generation and adds new gameplay elements that appeal to modern players. These new gameplay elements include particle effects, power-ups, co-op play, and original soundtracks composed by award-winning composer Megan McDuffee. In addition to the games added to the Recharged bundle, the highly regarded puzzle game Kombinera will be available on Stadia in September of 2022.

As Atari continues to commemorate its 50th anniversary, the company will likely release further news throughout the week, including game and product launches.
