BattleTech Urban Warfare, the second expansion for Harebrained Schemes' turn-based tactics title, just received a release date. Players will be able to pit giant 'Mechs against each other in urban settings come June 4.

Although the new urban locations will feature a considerably more restricted line of sight than existing BattleTech maps, every building in them is fully destructible. BattleTech Urban Warfare will also introduce new means of electronic warfare. The Electronic Countermeasures obscure 'Mechs from enemy targeting systems, making them immune to indirect fire, while equipping Active Probe on a 'Mech allows it to reveal, locate and target hidden enemy units.

BattleTech Urban Warfare also introduces two new 'Mechs. The lightweight experimental Raven 1X comes equipped with both Electronic Countermeasures and Active Probe, while the Javelin is described as "a compromise between speed and firepower, with close-range knockout power". The vehicle roster is also getting expanded, with the addition of the Gallant Urban Assault Tank, Packrat and Rotunda.

BattleTech Urban Warfare will also increase the available pool of Flashpoints, shorter self-contained stories added in the previous expansion, while the new Attack and Defend mission type sees players setting off to destroy an enemy base in order to cut off its steady stream of attackers that attempt to overwhelm them.

BattleTech Urban Warfare is currently available for pre-order for the price of $19.99 or your regional equivalent. Check out its announcement trailer.
