DS Day - Time For A Rant

Happy 3DS launch day everyone! Who’s getting one? Anyway, my mind exploded as a DS-like envelop came in today. I thought my unwritten prayers had been answered in new handheld form, but it turns out it was a regular DS game. I figured that Nintendo wouldn’t be handing out 3DS devices like candy. But what did arrive was, approximately 3 months after the release of Plants Vs Zombies on DS (US), PopCap still managed to ship us out a copy, for which they have our eternal thanks. They’re dedicated people over there at Popcap.
 

Finally! And most was right with the world.
 

Anyways, the portable version of this media hit comes wrapped in a lovely little embossed sleeve and pretty much feels like all other platform releases. For more information on Plants Vs Zombies, you can check out Joshua’s review. If any major differences come up from the portable version, I’ll be sure to add notes there next week. Also, how come you Americans get much better DS cases than us? They’re slicker, sturdier and  sport a cool black color, you lucky devils.
 

3D packaging!?! REVOLUTION! At least I can touch that.
 

In other news, we all know the 3DS was released today and will do great, despite CNN’s trolling. There’s just one thing to note though: If, like me, you’re 1 in 10 people that cannot see 3D, also known as stereo-blind, the slider option of the 3DS will do nothing for you. I had my hands on some Street Fighter today and couldn’t get anything popping, no matter how I tried. However, the handheld is still made of pure awesome. Is it biased to say it’s made of awesome? I suppose time will tell.
