Revealed back in 2012 Fable Legends was supposed to launch for the Xbox One and Windows 10. After being delayed until 2016 and an open beta the game has officially been cancelled, with those who purchased in-game receiving a full refund.

“After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK” Hanno Lemke, general manager of Microsoft Studios Europe, stated today.

Founded in 1996 by Peter Molyneux the studio has been responsible for Black & White and the Fable series until the studio was acquired by Microsoft in 2006. Molyneux left the studio in 2012 to found a new studio called 22cans which is currently developing Godus.
