Remedy Entertainment is perhaps the most beloved name among gamers. Starting with Max Payne, Control, and Alan Wake 2, whichever game they've resealed so far has been loved by gamers and praised by critics. While they are currently remaking and combining Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne as a single game in partnership with Rockstar Games, this week, they've unveiled yet another of their upcoming games; FBC: Firebreak, and it could spark your curiosity if you enjoy fun shooters.
FBC: Firebreak is a three-player cooperative first-person shooter and takes place within the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). Anyone familiar with Remedy from Alan Wake or Control will find the Federal Bureau of Control rather familiar; however, FBC: Firebreak is something completely different.
It is not a follow-up or a control DLC of Alan Wake or Control. It's a stand-alone game with its own unique style, but it shares Control's unusual, untamed atmosphere. The game pits you and two other players against supernatural enemies within Control's eerily frightening headquarters, the oldest house. There will be absolute mayhem in the greatest conceivable sense because both the enemies and the weapons you use will be incredibly unusual and weird.
Although FBC: Firebreak doesn't seem to have a fully realized narrative or a story as deep as Alan Wake 2 or Control, there will supposedly be stories going on in the background. Remedy stated that the game takes place after the events of Control and will expand the universe's lore.
Those who are familiar with Control will understand what's going on, but those who have never played the series may rest certain that they will not be lost if they decide to give it a shot. The game's narrative revolves around the Bureau's headquarters besieged by supernatural forces for an extended period; the only response unit with the ability to restore order is Firebreak.
The gameplay of FBC: Firebreak will be mission-based, and playing it is as simple as picking it up and putting it down. You and your team will simply jump in, blitz through some strange encounters, and then leap out. There will be no annoying grind or daily FOMO (fear of missing out) quests because the game is meant to be quite simple.
There won't be any tedious grinding or complicated systems that slow you down as you level up and get access to new abilities, gear, and augments. The only thing to do is to push harder, try new things, and keep going. FBC: Firebreak isn't a Live Service game either, but Remedy will continue to add material, so you may enjoy it at your speed without feeling stifled.
The weapons in FBC: Firebreak are known as Augments; they are supernatural implements fashioned from eerie altered objects discovered in space. Imagine them as abilities with a twist reminiscent of the peculiar Remedy style. Regular weapons like pistols, shotguns, rifles, etc., are also available; nevertheless, your success will likely depend on your unique skills.
We won't know for sure until something happens. Regarding the end-game content, Remedy has stated that they will be adding new features to keep things interesting. They want you to enjoy the co-op missions without feeling like you have to grind too much. If you don't have any friends to team up with—the game will feature matchmaking so you can find some strangers to play with.
So yeah, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's upcoming coop first-person shooter game, will be released in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass will have FBC: Firebreak available on launch day. Additionally, it will be available to all Extra and Premium members of PlayStation Plus on the first day of availability in the game catalog.
