Game Over For GeoHot/Sony Case! [12/4 DRAMA UPDATE]
News by Daav Daavpuke on Apr 11, 2011
Well...this is ‘sudden’. Just now, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that they aned George ‘GeoHot’ Hotz have come to an arrangement; a settlement even.

Hotz consented to a permanent injunction, which basically means he will stop trying to mess with Sony’s toys and mind his business. In a sudden blaze of glory for all parties, everyone fesses up how sorry they are and how they’ll never do it again. It’s like the schoolyard, decided over a very long process of litigation. Everyone is acting to do their best for you, the consumer.
Of course, no indication has been made that this rather timed conclusion had something to do with the many actions staged and planned by certain people. That would be ridiculous to link those events together, merely because of their correlation and similar timespan.
I’m going to miss this giant soap opera for gaming. I wonder what else is on?
Update: Aha, just like a good soap; whenever you think it's over, suddenly there's a new turn of events! Since it became apparent that GeoHot's permanent injunction could grant him fines of over $200K if he's found to be messing with Sony's stuff, the parties have now stopped their general politeness. Mr. Hotz has posted on a blog that he is rallying for a Sony boycott, with promises of 'much more to come.' There's more war talk in there as well, but that's the standard stuff of hoping Sony curls up and dies and all that racket. I'm glad I didn't get rid of the popcorn!
