A leak coming from former Game Informer editor and Kinda Funny Games Host Imran Khan has spawned great discussion over at the ResetEra forums.
The leak relates to the most recent Super Smash Bros DLC and its included characters, as well as some background discussion surrounding the inclusion of other characters.

Byleth joins smash

The information disclosed by Khan relates mostly to that of the recently added Fire Emblem character Byleth. According to the leaked information, Byleth was originally supposed to be in the base game. Due to time constraints around the game's release and with the character not being fully finished, Byleth was decided to be used instead as DLC content.
From Khan himself:

"My understanding of the timing was:

- Plant and Byleth were planned for base roster
- Plant was much more finished than Byleth, which was basically a model and some ideas
- The Three Houses delay let Nintendo put Byleth on their list of DLC characters for Smash, Plant was the transitional DLC character
- They got put on they backburner for FP1
"

The leaker also stated that a large part of Byleth's move set came from another character - one that was subsequently cut from the game. Khan was not comfortable disclosing who this cut character was, stating that he wouldn't disclose information he was only speculative or "iffy" on.

His leak also provides some further information on Arms character Min Min and Final Fantasy 7's Sephiroth - characters added last year.
Both characters were reportedly added due to their ease of implimentation, with Min Min already being a first party Nintendo character and Square Enix's already strong relationship with the series.
