More about Super Mario Bros U & New NintendoLand Mini-Games Revealed

GameInformer announced on Friday (9/7) that the October issue will feature the Wii U and Mario will grace its cover. The same day a NeoGAF user posted details about New Super Mario Bros. U and NintendoLand writing, "So far we have gotten confirmation of two more mini-games from NintendoLand and further details on New Super Mario Bros U."

The user released information on two new mini-games for NintendoLand: Metroid Blast and Balloon Trip Breeze. Metro Blast is playable by up to five people, where one player uses the GamePad to fly Samus' ship (from the Metroid games) and the other players attempt to shoot down the ship using MotionPlus controllers and Nunchuk's. The game features classic Metroid music and each character is dressed in Samus' armor. According to the NeoGAF post it will include free-for-all and team deathmatch modes and may have a horde-like mode.

Balloon Trip Breeze is similar to the classic Nintendo game Balloon Fight. Player's will guide floating Mii's through side-scrolling levels with the ultimate goal of flying the farthest. These levels have obstacles such as electric spikes, crazy birds, and hungry fish; avoidable by directing your Mii with gusts of wind. The forum user writes that it is Nintendo's hope that the game will create competition through Miiverse.

No official release date has been set for NintendoLand.

The details that have been revealed about Super Mario Bros. U include information on maps, game features, and fortress/castle guards. There will be one world map with dozens of levels in which you can explore at any time (similar to Super Mario World). Players will be able to choose which way to go through multiple branching paths and the game features an auto-scrolling Boost Rush mode that is more challenging. Boom-Boom guards mid-world fortresses and Koopalings guard end-level castles.

For more of a challenge users will be able to use Rush Mode.

It is unknown how this user is getting early access to the magazine but he or she says they will continue updates as more information comes out. The October issue of GameInformer hits shelves on September 10th . No official release dates yet for NintendoLand or New Super Mario Bros. U but, they are set to release this quarter.
