PlayStation 5 Rick And Morty Ad Lampoons Promotions
Rick counts his Sony money while Morty gives a boilerplate endorsement.

Sony and Adult Swim have teamed up to release a new PlayStation 5 promotion featuring the characters of Rick and Morty. Rather than present a flashy, catchy, and interesting commercial, the title characters simply sit in their home with a PlayStation 5 console centered on a table. Neither seems actually interested in the specifics of the console or games, with Rick only being motivated by how much money Sony has paid him; he spends most of the video counted up the received cash. Morty delivers a haphazard list of the PlayStation 5’s features: fast load times, the haptic feedback controller, and adaptive button resistance. However, he goes on to remark that his promotion isn’t good enough to really help sell the system.

Despite Morty’s lack of confidence, quick commercials featuring cross promotions with other brands have led to boosts in sales of past systems and games. Sony has a proven track record of utilizing a large marketing budget to push PlayStation consoles. These aggressive ad campaigns have been a factor in every day consumers being fully aware of the latest console generation.
