In an interview Super Mario Bros. Creator and leading visionary Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned that Nintendo is already working on a new console.
“For the time being, our focus is on the Wii U hardware, but Nintendo as a whole has groups working on ideas for new hardware systems…While we’re busy working on software for the Wii U, we have production lines that are working on ideas for what the next system might be” Minamoto said. Don’t worry about saving up for another console as Minamoto stated that it’ll be a few more years.
The Wii U released was released on 2012 as a successor to Nintendo’s popular Wii console. Featuring a Wii U GamePad as its primary controller, equipped with a touchscreen, the device can be used to play games directly from the Wii U hardware without using the television. While the Wii U released was released with rocky results, especially after the PS4 and Xbox One released, the Wii U has sales skyrocketed. This because of the release of popular games like Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bros. Wii U.
