Team Fortress 2 Update Introduces Casual and Competitive Matchmaking
Time to take Team Fortress 2 more seriously

The latest patch from Valve for Team Fortress 2 is called Meet You Match and seeks to fix some large issues while adding new features.
In this update, players who leave a match in casual mode won't receive penalties. However, those who leave during a competitive match will face harsher punishments.
“The current system increases matchmaking ban times based on the number of abandons over a period of time,” according to the patch notes. “We are making a change to more quickly move serial abandoners into really long ban times. We will also subtract the maximum number of rank points possible, per abandon. The amount lost will be far higher than what could normally be lost in a completed match.”
Other additions include vote-kicking in casual mode, which, if kicked, doesn't result in experience loss and reduced queue times.
