It's safe to say that, for a while now, more and more exploration games with a strong narrative focus have been popping up, attempting to tug at our heartstrings. The First Tree is one such title that's coming out next Thursday, on the 14th of September. Sporting beautiful visuals, the game is "centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death."

The First Tree is a one-man team effort by David Wehle, who's also responsible for Home is Where One Starts, which blends exploration with light puzzle solving and platforming. The title will be available on PC and Mac for the price of $8 or your regional equivalent, a small discount also being applied on launch. Have a look at the game's website for its launch trailer and a handy FAQ.
