Publisher HypeTrain Digital and developer Ink Stains Games have announced that turn-based RPG Stoneshard will enter Steam Early Access next week, on February 6th. Set during medieval times, the title puts players in the shoes of a medieval mercenary that must brave the various challenges that the game's ruthless, procedurally generated world throws their way.

Stoneshard lets players develop their character as they see fit, foregoing locking them into preset classes. As you level up, you'll choose where your points go and whether you want to use melee or ranged weapons, magic from various schools or a combination of all of them.

As you vanquish foes, you'll find various equipment types that further flesh out the role that you play and how you'll approach combat. Stoneshard's most interesting aspect, at least judging by the trailer, is its injury system. Tracking the condition of several body parts, it requires applying the correct cures in order to bring yourself back to full strength.

Wounds can prove to be quite debilitating, so you'll not only want to look out for traps and consider how best to deal with opponents, but also make sure you're stocked on different types of medicine. It's not just physical health you're looking after, either, as your mind is as necessary an asset.

Upon launching in Early Access, Stoneshard will cost $15/15€ depending on your region. You can find more details about the title on its Steam page and see it in action in its latest trailer.
