VR Prince of Persia Game Confirmed
A new installment in the Prince of Persia franchise is coming soon

Prince of Persia is one of Ubisoft's best IPs. The series has gone dormant for some time. With the 2008 rebooted series forgotten and left unfinished. The 2010 movie video game adaption disappointed fans who wanted a sequel to said reboot instead. Now, a new game is in development and it's probably not fans wanted. A VR title called Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time.

The VR title was confirmed today and will have more than 300 locations. Developed by Ubisoft Dusseldorf players will attempt to escape multiple rooms. You can play alone or with 2-4 players with the game using iconic systems within the Prince of Persia franchise. This includes the ability to rewind time. Executive producer at Escape Games Cyril Voiron stated:
Our VR escape rooms are meant to be larger-than-life adventures; something you can’t do in the real world, something you can totally immerse yourself into once you put on the VR headset. Prince of Persia ticked all the boxes. The Sands of Time series seemed to be the perfect fit, because it not only offers a fantasy setting, but the original games also come with many elements that fit perfectly into VR, such as puzzles and, of course, using powers such as time control.
It's hard to say how fans will respond to this. As a fan of the series, I would've liked a more straightforward Prince of Persia game or a sequel to the rebooted series. Since that narrative is still hanging around unfinished.
Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time will launch this spring.
