Wii U: Game and Controller Prices

It's official. The Wii U will release in the US on November 18th. If you can't wait to get your hands on one get in line. GameStop is now taking pre-orders, and they're counting down to its launch. They're offering a $50 trade-in bonus for your Wii however, wait! Gimme Gimme Games, reported data will be able to transfer from the Wii to the Wii U, but both consoles will need to be connected to the internet at the same time. As of now GameStop is the only retailer offering pre-orders on the Wii U.

 

As NoobFeed reported, Wii U controllers and nunchucks will not be included with the purchase of the console. A new Wii controller generally costs $29.99 and a new nunchuck costs about $20.00. That's not the only bummer; GameInformer reported that Nintendo confirmed none of the Wii U launch games will support the use of more than one Wii U gamepad, therefore you will be unable to purchase the gamepad separately from the bundles.

So how about the Xbox looking controller? The Wii U Pro Controller can be used with your Wii U for a more traditional style of gaming. This controller will be best suited for Wii U games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Mass Effect 3, and Assassins Creed III; to name a few. The Wii U Pro Controller is priced on GameStop's website at $49.99; available in black and white. These controllers are also not included in either the Wii U's basic or deluxe set.

This controller looks...familiar.

 

If you're used to the Wii's game prices, you will see an increase in the price for Wii U games. Wii games have generally cost $49.99 where as Wii U games will cost $59.99. The official release dates for many of the Wii U games have also been listed on GameStop's website.

 

Come November expect to thrown down a large chunk of change for the Wii U. As Nintendo is not including Wii controllers expect to thrown down even more plus an $60 for a game. Overpriced? Perhaps.
