Dave The Diver Guide | 12 Things To Avoid When Starting Out
Avoid these common DAVE THE DIVER mistakes to earn more gold, upgrade faster, and run Bancho Sushi more smoothly.

Fish quality matters more than it first appears. A one-star fish gives fewer portions, while a three-star catch gives better value and more food for Bancho Sushi. Shooting, poisoning, or killing small and medium fish usually lowers quality. Use the Harpoon for better results early on, then move toward the Net Gun, Drone, or Tranquilizer tools when you can.

Do Not Fear The Weight Limit
Going over the weight limit is not always a mistake. If you are close to an exit point, refill Oxygen and collect extra fish before leaving. Dave will swim slower, but the extra ingredients can mean better profits and faster dish enhancements.
Do Not Waste Oxygen Refills Too Early
Dave’s Oxygen works like his health bar, so running out can cost you nearly everything in your inventory. Still, do not use every refill the moment you see it. If you still have around half your Oxygen, save nearby refills for risky areas, dangerous fish, or boss fights. Carrying an Oxygen Tank can also make tough fights much safer.
Do Not Avoid Jellyfish In The Early Game
Jellyfish may look annoying early on, but they are a useful source of gold. With a basic Harpoon, they can be hard to kill, so melee attacks are often safer and cheaper. Seagrapes Jellyfish Sushi is especially worth enhancing because it uses Sea Grape, White Spotted Jellyfish, and Salt, and it becomes very profitable during Jellyfish Party events.

Do Not Overprepare Expensive Dishes
Any unsold food is thrown away at the end of the night. Keep track of how many customers you served the previous day and prepare dishes around that number. Running out near closing time is usually better than wasting rare ingredients.
Do Not Upgrade Cooksta Too Soon
Upgrading Cooksta immediately can hurt your restaurant if you are not ready. Higher ratings increase customer limits, but they also raise nightly operating costs. Move to Platinum or Diamond only when your staff, ingredients, and service speed can handle the extra orders.
Do Not Rush Night Diving
Night diving can be profitable, but fish have much more health at night. Before hunting rare night fish, upgrade your Harpoon and weapons a few times. Otherwise, you may spend too much Oxygen and ammo for too little reward.
Do Not Ignore Weapon Upgrades
The Large Net Gun should be a priority because it can catch several small and medium fish at three-star quality. The Enhanced Hush Dart, Tranquilizer Rifle and improved Standard Rifle are also useful, especially for better catches and easier boss fights.

Do Not Forget The Sea People Village
After progressing in the Sea People Village, the Blacksmith becomes one of the best upgrade sources. Fragments can be bought cheaply with Bei, and the Shark Teeth mini-game is a fast way to earn more Sea People Currency.
Do Not Underuse Staff
Hire staff early, train them often, and place them where their strengths fit best. Yone is useful for cooking, while Billy is worth training to Level 15 because he unlocks Crimson Fish Roll, a very profitable recipe.
Do Not Ignore Dispatch
Dispatch is one of the easiest ways to collect ingredients like Soy Sauce and Sesame Seeds. Send unused staff from the waiting room, and look for Davina or Masayoshi because they can learn Dispatch Master.
Do Not Leave Farms Unplanned
Expand the farm whenever possible and grow ingredients that support your best dishes. Save Rice for Tropical Fish Sushi early, then use Garlic and Cherry Tomato for Arctic Cod Risotto later. Pick one or two high-value recipes and build your farms around them.
