Dave the Diver features a wide range of dishes that directly affect how your sushi bar performs. As you progress, you unlock recipes through fishing, story progression, rankings, bosses, VIP visits, employees, and limited-time events. Every recipe has a clear purpose, whether it is earning money, increasing taste rating, or fulfilling special conditions. 

This guide goes through all of the recipe types and keeps the original details. It is redone as a step-by-step reference so you always know how to unlock each dish and when it becomes available.

Recipe Overview

There are a lot of different ways to unlock recipes while you play. You get some recipes as soon as you catch a fish, but others need you to move the story, level up your Cooksta rank, fight bosses, fulfill VIP orders, train your staff, or wait for special events. After being unlocked, most meals can't be served right away; they need to be studied first at your sushi bar.

Basic Recipes

Basic recipes form the foundation of your menu. Most fish in the game automatically unlock a recipe as soon as you catch them. Each of these dishes requires only one ingredient, which is a single piece of meat from the fish itself. If you want to unlock all basic recipes, you simply need to catch every fish available in the game.

You gain access to dishes such as Alaska Pollock Sushi, Antarctic Octopus Sushi, Arctic Cod Sushi, Atlantic Anglerfish Sushi, Blobfish Sushi, Blue Tang Sushi, Clownfish Sushi, Great Barracuda Sushi, Greenland Shark Sushi, Humboldt Squid Sushi, Marlin Sushi, Narwhal Sushi, Tiger Shark Sushi, Vampire Squid Sushi, Yellowfin Tuna Akami Sushi, Zebra Shark Sushi, and many more. Each of these recipes is only meant to turn one fish into a food item, so they are stable and easy to use in the early and middle parts of the game.

Story Recipes

Story recipes unlock naturally as you progress through the main narrative. These dishes are tied to specific story moments and use multiple ingredients.

The Whole-Roasted Shark Head can be unlocked with the Whitetip Reefshark and olive oil. Falcatus, seaweed, buckbean, and miso are all needed to make Falcatus Soybean Paste Soup. Pikaia Ramen is made with Pikaia, Grade A eggs, wheat, and southern bull kelp. These recipes are important steps in your growth and will help you make more complex meals.

Cooksta Recipes

Cooksta recipes unlock when your restaurant rank increases. After unlocking them, you must research each recipe using the Artisan’s Flame at the sushi bar.

At the Bronze level, you gain access to Boiled Yellowback Fusilier, Salt-Grilled Redtoothed Triggerfish, Agar Tokoroten, and Seasoned Kajime.

At the Silver level, you unlock Moray Eel Curry, Striped Red Mullet Tangle Roll, and White Trevally Kombu Ochazuke.

At the Gold level, you receive Stellate Puffer Special Sushi, Seagrapes Special Sushi, Trout Sea Grapes Ricebowl, and Big-Eyed Scad and Soybean Paste Roast.

At the Platinum level, you unlock Seahorse Udon, Black Vinegar Braised Parrotfish, Atlantic Bonito Curry, and Humphead Parrotfish Curry.

At the Diamond level, you gain access to Nasu Dengaku, Dumbo Takoyaki, and Great Barracuda Canape. These dishes are important for pushing higher ratings and profits.

Boss Recipes

Each boss you defeat unlocks a unique recipe that is already at its maximum level. These recipes do not require research and become available immediately after victory.

You unlock dishes such as Stir-Fried Hermit Crab and Seaweed, Boiled Mantis Shrimp with Soy Paste, White Shark Omelet, Clione Queen Soup, Steamed Wolf Eel, Goblin Shark Belly Roast, Phantom Jellyfish Jelly, Roasted Helicoprion Tail, Steamed Kronosaurus Tongue, and Yawie Steamed Meat. Every boss recipe uses rare ingredients obtained directly from the defeated enemy.

VIP Recipes

VIP recipes unlock when special guests visit your restaurant and request unique dishes within a limited time. Successfully serving them permanently adds the recipe to your menu.

You unlock Seagrapes Jellyfish Sushi from Vincent, Tropical Fish Sushi Set from Michael Bang, and Vegetable Sushi from Sammy. Wang Pang unlocks several recipes including Sweet and Sour Stargazer, Mianbao Xia, Blobfish Spring Roll, Fried Rice with Galapagos Red Crab, Fried Tomato and Snailfish, and Tomato Egg Soup.

From Alex, you gain Deep Fish Tempura, Pelican Eel Jelly, Comber Sandwich, Plotosid Pie, and Smoked Atlantic Mackerel Scramble. Pastro unlocks Humboldt Ink Pasta, Antarctic Octopus Carpaccio, Haddock Acqua Pazza, Narrow-Barred Spanish Mackerel Arancini, Arctic Cod Risotto, and Peacock Squid Ripieni.

Employee Recipes

Employee recipes unlock when staff members reach certain levels. When a recipe is ready, you see a notification indicating the employee has prepared something.

At Level 5, you unlock recipes such as Stellate Puffer Nicogori, Boiled and Deep-Fried White Shrimp, Fried Seahorses, Smallspotted Dart Kajime Soup, and Special Friend Shrimp Sushi, depending on the employee.

At Level 10, you gain Rice with Purple Sea Urchin Sushi, Deep-Fried Luna Lionfish, and Roasted Capelin.

At Level 15, you unlock a wide range of dishes including Fried Onion Cuttlefish, Mackerel Scad Hotdog, Trevally Nanbanzuke, Ice Fish Curry, Shark Karaage, Seasoned Jellyfish, Wrasse Curry, Rice with White Shrimp Meat, Three-Colored Squid Roast, Latok Omelet, Crimson Fish Roll, Great Spider Crab Curry, Dried Stingray, Narwhal Miso Soup, Dusky Grouper Steak, Batfish Ricebowl, Seaweed Rolled Omelet, Boiled Porbeagle Shark, Roasted Tropical Fish and Garlic, Seahorse Salad, and Deep-Fried Eggplant Shrimp Meatballs.

Event Recipes

Event recipes unlock during limited-time events and must be researched after unlocking.

During the Cucumber Party, you gain recipes such as Seasoned Waptia Fieldensis, Trevally Sandwich, Great Spider Crab and Cucumber Sushi, Sea Toad and Cucumber Gunkan Sushi, Deep-Fried Vegetables, Pickled Vegetables, and Skewered Cucumber.

The Marlin Party unlocks Marlin and Soybean Paste Roast and Boiled Sailfish and Seaweed.

The Tuna Party grants Hawaiian Poke, Bluefin Tuna Rice Bowl, and Yellowfin Tuna Steak.
