After unlocking the basic Mentat class, you'll need to progress to the advanced trainer to access higher-level Mentat skills, including powerful capstone abilities and exclusive equipment rewards. The advanced Mentat trainer provides access to multiple skill tiers and culminates in obtaining a high-quality sniper rifle called "Thufir's Best".

This guide will walk you through finding the advanced trainer and completing the initial quest to unlock advanced Mentat progression.

Prerequisites

Before attempting to unlock the advanced Mentat trainer, you must have already completed the basic Mentat trainer quest with Samin Moro at Rift Watch. If you started as a Mentat character, you can skip the basic trainer and go directly to the advanced trainer.

Important Recommendation: You should strongly consider obtaining an ornithopter before starting the advanced trainer quests.

While it's possible to complete them using paid transportation, having your own ornithopter will save significant time and money throughout the quest chain.

All advanced trainer quests involve considerable travel across the map, making personal transportation essential for efficiency.

Getting to Arrakeen

The advanced Mentat trainer can be found in Arrakeen, which is one of Dune Awakening's main social places. There are two ways for you to get to Arrakeen:

Option 1: Ornithopter (recommended) - You can fly straight to Arrakeen for free if you have your own ornithopter. This way saves the most money and gives you the freedom you need for the next quest chain.

Option 2: Paid Transportation - You can pay 2,500 Solari to use the Ornithopter taxi service at any tradepost. While this gets you there, the cost adds up when you need to travel frequently for the advanced quests.

Finding Zayn De Witte

The advanced Mentat trainer is Zayn De Witte, who is located in The Salusan Bull, a bar in Arrakeen. After arriving in the landing bay in Arrakeen, go straight until you reach the Central Plaza, then go right and go down the stairs to The Salusan Bull.

Zayn is waiting inside the Salusan Bull Bar on the bottom floor near the back. Look for an NPC with a blue icon hovering around his head - this is the standard indicator for trainers in Dune Awakening.

Quest 2: Calculated Calamity

Once you've located Zayn De Witte, he will give you your first advanced trainer quest called "Calculated Calamity".

This quest serves as your introduction to the advanced Mentat skill line and involves a straightforward series of objectives centered around interrogation, elimination, and intelligence gathering.

Quest Overview

Zayn wants you to head to the Anvil for an interrogation. This is a relatively straightforward quest involving interrogation, killing, looting, and returning to the trainer. The quest requires significant travel, which is why having an ornithopter is highly recommended.

From the bar, you'll need to leave Arrakeen, return to the world map, and fly to your designated objectives. The optimal approach is to fly in at the 3 o'clock position, which provides the most efficient positioning for completing the quest objectives.

Quest Locations and Objectives

Your first stop will be at Anvil, where you'll be interviewing or interrogating a target. There's another individual at this location who will provide you with crucial information about where you need to go next for elimination targets.

After gathering this intelligence, you'll proceed to the sweep location to eliminate designated targets.

During this phase, you'll also need to sabotage certain objects as part of your mission parameters. Following the elimination and sabotage objectives, you'll move to Shatel Passage for additional looting and elimination tasks.

Quest Completion

Once you've completed all objectives at the various locations, you'll return to the world map and fly back to Arrakeen. Return to Zayn De Witte at The Salusan Bull to turn in the quest and officially unlock access to the advanced Mentat trainer services.

What's Next

Completing this initial Advanced Trainer quest unlocks access to the full Advanced Mentat progression system.

Zayn De Witte will have additional quests available that unlock higher skill tiers, including capstone abilities and, ultimately, the powerful "Thufir's Best" sniper rifle.
