End of Abyss Guide | How to Find the Mechanical Crank

The Mechanical Crank is a Key Item in End of Abyss, required to activate bridge mechanisms and continue through Factory West. As you progress through the main story, you will encounter a broken bridge that will require this item. You will, however, need to pass through the nearby Maintenance area to reach the Mechanical Crank.

Go through Factory East, and you’ll arrive at Factory West. Continue down the main path here, and you’ll find a bridge mechanism that requires the Mechanical Crank.

This is something you can't activate the mechanism without this. You have to go through Maintenance to collect it instead.

Enter the Maintenance Area

From the blocked bridge, follow the alternate path leading toward Maintenance.

Continue along the corridor and climb the ladder. Take the door on the left and eliminate the Security Pods guarding the area.

You can also collect an Energy Cell from a nearby Item Box before continuing.

Go through the right-hand door and take the upper path into Maintenance. Nearby is a Safe Room, where you can save your progress if you need to.

Defeat the Security Pods

Continue through Maintenance until you reach another room containing several Security Pods.

These robotic enemies can withstand a lot of damage, so avoid them and eliminate them before proceeding.

After clearing the room, head through the doorway on the left at the far end. This leads toward an Extendable Bridge.

Collect the Mechanical Crank

Approach the Extendable Bridge and look beside its control mechanism.

The Mechanical Crank is lying nearby. Interact with it to collect the item.

Its description confirms that it allows you to use crank slots, letting you activate bridge mechanisms throughout the facility.

Extend the Bridge and Continue

With the Mechanical Crank in hand, go to the bridge mechanism and use it to extend the bridge, clearing the path.

Return to Factory West and attach the Mechanical Crank to the bridge mechanism that you couldn't reach earlier, and continue through the area.

Collecting the Mechanical Crank beside the Extendable Bridge in Maintenance allows you to activate crank slots and cross the blocked bridges in Factory West.
